how many pictures does T/warden take
Discussion
While in Blackpool yesterday, was sitting in the car park before leaving and noticed a traffic warden about to ticket a car or two. Deciced to sit and watch for any irate drivers returning. The warden first ticketed a Mitso 4x4. After sticking the ticket on the screen, out came the camara and he takes a picture. He then went on to take another 7-8 pictures, walking all around the vehicle. Even took some through the windows. He then done the same on another couple of cars.
Why so many pictures? Surely one from the front showing number plate and ticket on the screen is enough, the rest would mean nothing surely.
Obviously not a complaint, just interested.
Surprising thing is, no irate drivers, just comments of "oh bugger" and the like. One couple even said thanks!

I know through bitter experience that some of the pictures are taken to reference the exact position of the car.
I.e. Picture 1 shows the rear offside wheel with the tyre valve at the 3 o'clock position etc.
Not sure of the exact reason for this though, maybe to do with proving you haven't moved the car and have been 'meter feeding'.

Thats a good reason, never thought of that. But surely a picture of a tyre valve/wheel means absolutely nothing unless the reg number is on the picture also. Otherwise it could be a picture of any vehicles wheel. Maybe the digital camara links all the pictures together, like a short movie of stills. Can digi cams do that? Not sure of the exact reason for this though, maybe to do with proving you haven't moved the car and have been 'meter feeding'.
He also looked far too close to the vehicle to get anything other than the car in the shot. He had to walk in between parked cars, so only about 1metre max space
Chatted to one at the weekend, booking a car. Took photos of car from several angles, close ups of ticket and reg, close up of restriction sign, wide shot of car and restriction sign, and photos of a couple of stickers and some damage on the car.
I asked him if he had any prejudice towards certain marques, and he replied that he didn't care and did his job regardless.
I suggested that I might not behave so scrupulously in his position.

Watched one give a ticket in Preston last week, the car was parked in a disabled spot on the street, she took a front and back pic, then one of the dashboard (obviously to show no blue badge), then one of the disabled badge holders only sign, then a couple of others. Had just finished taking the pics when the owner came back, cue one very irate woman!
I think it is for 3 reasons:
1 - To demonstrate the offence (i.e. show the car in the bay and the restrictions on the sign and that the sign existed)
2 - To show identifying marks on the car to counter any later claim of number plate cloning.
3 - The interior pictures to show that there is no ticket that could have fallen off the dash. (Many people may claim that they had a valid ticket which must have fallen to the floor inside the car. Interior pics will disprove this to some extent as it will be presumed that the fallen ticket would be visible in them.)
