A check of the Sunday Times "Driving" section or the OPC used car search should give you an indication.

With used prices I am lead to believe a lot depends on the spec of the vehicle.

as i mentioned earlier (but no one bothered to reply) i let my boxsterS 2001Y go for 30 big ones....a mistake or a calculated loss?
As a moderator I make a point of trying to answer a 'no reply' thread, but saw yours and wondered what kind of a response you were angling for. That is why you probably didn't get any repsonses.
You seemed sad to see it go, as we all are when nice things pass. You must have had your reasons, it sounded like a fair price. If it was a mistake only you know that it was.
If you sold a good car and now want it back, there may only be so much sympathy people can extend. if you want a cheaper boxster, then great. But this is Pistonheads.com not Parkers.com - we can't advise on prices very accurately - and you need to start threads people can realistically comment on if you want a reply or ten.
If you want someone to say 'hard luck, mate' then I'm sure any pub in the country will have willing compatriots to oblige you.
Sorry if your first post got off to a shaky start, but PH is a community and people who have been here longer tend to get more 'traffic'. Stick with it. We're a friendly and helpful bunch most of the time

Cheers - and welcome.

dear moderator
in answer to your question i was not angling for any particular response just some some general subjective chit chat - like one might discuss the nations other favourite topic - house prices
i know ITN wouldn't be too interested that my car has gone and quite rightly why would any one else but having read all the posts reporting your members shiny new cars i thought it might be worth a mention
as you say a shakey start or is the porsche gang not as friendly as the lotus...when was the last time some one in a porsche waved back at you?
i know that's sad but we really used to do that...

FYI, the chit chat is quite specific. If you post generally, you may not get a reply.

Well, maybe it wasn't or you would have got a reply first time out. When members post about their shiny new cars it is normally because they have just got them - not just got rid of them.

The Porsche gang is as friendly, if not more so, than the Lotus crowd. I used to own a Lotus Carlton and a few Caterhams, and I have met many esprit and elise owners etc. You will find that coming on here and stomping your feet because someone does not reply to a vacuous post will not engender feelings of goodwill. I'm sure it wouldn't have done on a Lotus forum either.
If you search this forum, you will see that a whole thread was recently devoted to Porsche owners acknowledging each other.
i know that's sad but we really used to do that...
Well bully for you. Read the thread and you'll find some Porsche people wave to each other as well.
as i mentioned earlier (but no one bothered to reply) i let my boxsterS 2001Y go for 30 big ones....a mistake or a calculated loss?
now the good bit...how much would one be looking at for used boxsterS with glass rear screen...?
i thankyou in advance
I'll try to give you a general answer...
Go use the Porsche Car Configurator on the Porsche site and get a list price. Since Glass Rear Screen (MY03) cars weren't being sold until last September (I got mine in October) then they will all be very low milage (mine has done just 5K miles) and off an OPC will sell for just off list price. A saving of a few hundred quid but no wait.
This means you could be paying 38K to 48K depending on spec.
Buying privately of course you will be splitting the difference between OPC prices and trade-in value with the previous owner. Look for a saving off list of three grand or so (OPC margins being about 6K a car - probably...).
I hope you find this useful and get yourself back into Porsche ownership as soon as possible!
Cool. Sorry if I over-wielded the moderation stick. Must be Stig's influence on the Ultima forum
I tend to react strongly to the 'can't be bothered' asides, as most members here go out of their way to help fellow forum members, and a lack of response doesn't mean they are being unhelpful or unfriendly. Sometimes the relevant respondant is just off-line or on holiday etc.
Welcome, once again. And sorry for the shaky start

Moderators have to keep an eye on the quality of the forums. If I posted and said:
'Looked out of my window and saw my Porsche. Went down and checked its valve caps. Turned them half an inch anti-clockwise'
Then that is Porsche related gassing, but pretty boring and mundane. Sometimes these posts will be binned, so that people don't have to dredge through them for the interesting info.
The only reason I mentioned something to architectural was because I thought he was having a go at the forum for not responding to one of his posts. This new thread about Boxster S prices has a bit more direction - so let's help out architectural and come up with some constructive replies.
I don't mind explaining points of moderation off line, but if the thread wanders too far down the domster route I will close it.

Twice today actually! But we had this discussion already quite recently, and I'm sorry to report that owners of current models don't generally wave much, so the rest of us play the percentages and aren't expecting it if they do - sorry! It's nothing personal and certainly not any slur on the car, but you soon learn who is likely to respond, and who isn't.
LOL, the pair of you
Everyone knows I only mention 964RSs when absolutely necessary. ie when anyone wants a Porsche between 20k GBP and 40k GBP
Clarkson would get a mixed reception on PH. It would be interesting to see what would happen if he ever posted. Some people love him, some people loathe him. Search general gassing for some interesting Clarkson threads.
I think the waving thing comes down to a question of like minded owners. Porsche enthusiasts in Boxsters would get a wave from Porsche enthusiasts in old 911s etc. However, as the Boxster has a wider appeal than the hardcore, many don't wave at them as a matter of course.
Besides, if I waved at every Boxster I saw, my arm would drop off
