Waiting for my 360 to come back from repair and I have a worry. I always look after my kit and I've heard a few horror stories about people sending their mint looked after 360 and getting something back that looks like it's been owned by a 6 year old ie. filthy and covered in scratches.

Anyone have any experience ?

I got mine replaced / repaired about a month ago - like you, my old (16-month old) one was in pretty much mint condition. The replacement one looks as-new, not a mark on it.

Ive had four back so far and they were all ok,one wasnt as clean as the one i sent in but apart from that ok.There are some horror stories circulating the net but they appear to be fairly rare instances.

Normally the way most outfits will work when they offer a repair facility is that when you send your unit back in it will be graded on it's current condition - i.e. cosmetically, so say you're machine scores a 3 out of 5 then that's the standard (or better) of unit you should recieve back if it's not going to be feasable for them to turn yours around in the required timeframe...obviously this is only a rule of thumb and there will be exceptions which I'm sure I'd be taking up with MS if it ever happened to me...

Something to bear in mind - whenever I send machine parts back in my main job I take digital photos of the parts from all angles to prove the condition before sending them - these are then either emailed or burnt to disk and included when package ships, that way there's no quibbles or arguments over the condition prior to shipment...something that I carry over into my non-work life too whenever shipping back expensive goodies for repair or what have you...

wink
