Afternoon all,

I wonder if anyone can help with this, as I can't figure it out and the manual is useless. I am off on a long continental trip tomorrow, and would like to reset the fuel average on the trip computer thingy, to get an idea of how much it drinks on average on a long trip like that.

I have consulted the manual, which mentions several times that this can be reset, but handily completely omits explaining how to actually do it. Does anyone have any idea?

If it is the same as my VXR you press the top right quadrant of the button group (can't remember what it is called - Set maybe?).

The display needs to be on the Fuel Consumption selection, but then pressing the button as I said - for about a second - resets things..... It also resets the average speed as well.

See if that helps.

Enjoy your trip.

If you push the up and down arrows together when the car is running that should do the trick. The car should chime at you when it has been reset.

Just tried that, and no dice. No change, no beep. Can't believe it's this complicated. Or is it mayhap me being a bit thick? it's entirely possible biggrin

Use the up/down button to cycle through to the average fuel comes up on the dash, then hit set or reset I think (bear in mind I've not seen or sat in my 'ro in a while now)

I didn't, well not exactly, as the button layout is different. Sorry, should have mentioned that biggrin I've tried pressing all available buttons for some time in different modes, but so far no dice.

Pressing the up and down buttons on mine resets my VT2 GTS UK with a chime. Don't use the consumption meter just watch the fuel used readout which is very accurate never more than 0.1-0.3litre out. One thing that does puzzle me is that it puts the low fuel warning light on once 54 litres have been used and then it tells me I've got 10 miles range left when it hits 58 litres, despite the handbook saying it has a 75 litre tank. Suppose I need to put a can in the car and deliberately run it out.

if you bring up the average display and then press the two set buttons quickly together like double clicking a mouse it should reset awkward with bust fingers

Thanks for all the replies. Sorted now, thanks to user "stevemac" who I met up with today. For some reason I am to thick to do this, he got straight into the car, did what I've been doing all along, and it worked. I have no idea what I've been doing wrong, but there you go. Thanks again!

Press both buttons for about 1 sec, release and then press again immediately...works everytime for me. bty thanks for the brakes, cost £105 to get all the disks skimmed look as good as new now and no sign of warping. I'm going to finish off the ones on the car on the top gear track and then replace with the "new" ones.

Glad the brakes are working out, that's brilliant!

Car they came off is now on its holidays in Scandinavia, and has caught a cold - MAF and O2 sensors playing up. Car's been faultlessly reliable all the time I've had it, and then decides to play up 700 miles from home.

Mind you, it was nearly worth it for the commotion it caused in the local GM garage when I took it out there today for them to have a look. Never seen so many grown men crowding round an LS1 engine mkaing funny "ooo" and "wow" sounds biggrin

bummer!
Hope you can get it sorted out...does it work once it goes open loop? Mine did when one of the O2 sensors went wrong...from cold start it ran badly ( misfire, lumpy) until warmed up then as soon as it went open loop everything ran fine. good luck with it anyway

It runs fine on heavier throttle application, pulls OK etc., it's just quite lumpy on idle and really light throttle opening, so similar to what you've had. Possibly easy to fix in England, but next to impossible to get sorted here, as HSV/LS1 specialists aren't exactly ten a penny here!

sounds like your fuel consumption is going to go up until you get it sorted!! keep an eye on the rear view mirror as well if you are going to go around on full throttle all the way back ;-)
