I just found out that Weltmeister is no longer trading. Sorry to hear that. Can anyone recommend an alternative to have a dyno test carried out(near London)?

You need someone who knows Porsches, and has the correct cooling for the turbos.

AMD and Weltmeisters dynos were the best for cooling turbos, both have now gone, so not sure what to suggest. We don't touch any of the 911 turbos because we don't have the specialist fans needed. DS autotive in Aylsbury used to be G-force which did turbos and have the fans for them, but they are now a toyota specialist.

Oh, and supposedly your supposed to pop the propshaft out on them and run them in RWD mode.

the first thing all 911 turbo owners should do anyways, unless you like the wonky handling of the porsche 4wd system, in which case you really should go try a FWD car, although ive been told the front end thing on the 4wd cars being a bit wonky is due to the extra weight in the front end . . . . . .

Give http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk a try. I had my GT3 done there at a recent BM3W meet, as did a number of mates, and they have experience of running turbo's too as one of the guys there has one. Very good roller and you will have no issues with cooling, they have the largest fans in Europe!

Although John's dyno set up is really good, it is not set up to suit rear engined cars, particularly Porsche Turbo's. The ECU will remove great gobs of timing & boost if it sees inlet temps of 23 deg or above.

You are guaranteed to see above that with the current ambient temps.

Best bet is to go to DSA or hang on as we may arise phoenix like from the ashes

Give Bob Watson a ring on 01869 340 814 (just north of Oxford so just a trip up the M40).

He is the PCGB 911 Turbo Register Technical expert and knows lots about 911 turbos. Never seen anything in his workshop except 911's and the occasional 968 CS - mostly racing cars. Has done quite a bit of work on my 930LE including engine setup and dyno for setting up fuelling etc. Last time I was there he had a 996 Cup car (in amongst a load of racing turbos and RSs) and was replacing fuel and ignition ECUs with a Motronic race setup - never seen so many wires!

Quality of his work is excellent - proper race class engineering, proper knowledge, proper facilities (dyno cell has proper cooling and supplementary ducting specially designed for turbo 911s up to about 700hp I think) and he's a really nice bloke too.

Nice one Allan, all the best with that. You can't keep a good man down.
