Bonnet Gromit / Spacer

Any one know the correct term for this, I think there a common items. sould be able to get one if I know the correct name see pic.

I mean the name of the rubber spacer.
Not how the bonnet is fitted.
Just want some kind of space so the paint don't rub.

That is a bodge with a rubber gromit. Its probably better if you use a rubber washer or a silicon washer.

Ok, I'll get some rubber washers tomorrow, have to mesure the hole size tonight.

Pick up a multi pack of wire grommets from Halfords, or use a tap washer and open up the hole in the middle, or even easier, if you have some rubber fuel line or coolant hose with an internal diameter the same as the bonnet bolt just cut some slices off the width you need.

Cunning plan about using the hose,

I've got a ton of silicone hose ends in the garage.

Just liked the look of the gromit as it got more give.

Yep I concur. I read the thread title and immediately though tap washer.

Cool I'm sure I've got some of them. I may put one either side and 2 metal ones in the middle. so all the rubbing will ocour on the metal, not the paint.

I wouldn't bother - firstly the total thickness will probably be too great, secondly if one of the rubber washers splits, you'll end up damaging the paintwork with the metal washer, and thirdly, it would be too much of a fiddle.
