944 brake + other upgrades?
Discussion
Later model 944 had Brembo bits that will bolt on, but word has it that they work well when theyre working well, but need more care than the standard Porsche lumps of metal.
An easy alternative is to nick some bits off the 928. Those brakes were considered 'mighty' at the time... and i can testify to a full 4 wheel panic braking lock-up down a country lane when i had a 928S.
All costly, just whack some new disks and grippier pads into it, it's not as ive 944's are really quick enough to need uber-breaks and the standard jobs are more than capable of locking the wheels up!

ISTR there is a Willwood kit for the early 944 sold by ppl like Promax.
Loads of shocks for early 944 I believe you can get Koni, Bilstein and Spax options that will likely give much better handling then stock setup for not a huge amount of money. My personal feeling on this subject is to always start with the shocks first, assuming all the bushes and mounts are OK.

Forgot to say that this would likely be inserts on the front if Koni or Bilstein in order to keep costs down. SS7
Any chance of a pic? What sort of condition are they in and what model were they fitted too?
Ref brakes I've been looking at the kit Porschshop do, Its 835+vat on the website but they said they'd do it for £800 for me all inc which was good as it includes the bigger discs, porsche calipers (not wilwood) and other req'd bits!

Also, these dampers, is it just the inserts I want or a complete strut and spring kit?
Also, I'm guessing that the turbo's have the thickedt anti roll bars, are these a direct fit to mine?
AFAIK on early 944 you don't have to cut the strut body to put a new insert in so should be fairly straightforward. The route to take is down to yourself really and how much money you want to spend. I would phone Bert Gear at Berlyn Services and just discuss with him the available options. Also, I'm guessing that the turbo's have the thickedt anti roll bars, are these a direct fit to mine?

Personally I think that 400 quid odd for a complete koni strut is crazy money when you can get KW v3 systems for all 4 corners for roughly 3 times that including all the platforms, springs etc.
again AFAIK you can fit any of the latter 944/968 ARB onto any 924 or 944 series car with the appropriate mounts and bushes.
I have a front S2 anti-roll bar (27.2 mm hollow) if you want it PM me it is in the Northampton area, bung me Mum or me brother a fiver for it and take it away.
The Koni suspension kits include struts, dampers and springs and are £435 + vat, I though that was good?
I would have that a/r/b but I'm miles away from you dammit!!!!
I've replaced the dampers already with standard units from a factors which has improved things as the others were worn but its still wobbly and rolly when you're going for it but yes they are removeable by way of undoing a threaded collar.
