I have a 1.8t 20v turbo engined car which is modified with and IHI turbo and runs about 18 psi on full chat. I am looking to add a little nitrous to it ( probabaly 25 hp jets ) just to get the turbo to spool up quicker.
The problem is I think my engine only has standard internals , will they cope ?

I also run water injection and its charged cooled if that makes any difference.

Thanks

how much power is it making now???

i think using the nirtous the way you intend is a good idea.

might want toi talk to someone like storm developments as to how it might be done on the stock internals.

thanks Chris.

It is making around 325 bhp now ( or so the previous owner says) When I get back from work I have arranged a rolling road session for a tune and to get a figure.

Thanks for the advice, I will get in touch with Storm .

try increasing power but reducing top revs slightly

this will preserve the engine a little longer

there is a good book by corky bell on turbo charging explains all this and shows that more power dosn't kill the big ends revs does

It should cope ok.

Go on to the Wizards of Nos forum and ask there as Trevor who runs that company is quite probably THE most knoweldgable man with nitrous and he's constantly on there so he will more than likely respond to your post.

His products are also the best on the market. His solenoids are guaranteed never to wear out unlike the american ones.

Highly reccomended.

hey marT350T. is the 1.8T in a golf??? i think you should do the 3.2 R32 motor swap then N2O that! smile

seriously though, thats pushing quiet a lot of power on the stock internals. it would be wise to go for a forged bottom end. there are sup[posed to be lots of cheap yet storng bit coming over from the USA as they have a very big VW market over there.

thanks Chris.

I is quite a car. It was built by Ian Birch formerly of Dubsport.
I used to think my TVR was fast to I got this.
I am at York raceway on the 4th of August to see how she goes.

Its running a IHI turbo (18-20 psi) water/methanol injection charge cooled NOS fogger system bigger injectors etc and it mid engined ina stripped out polo weighing about 830 kg!

Chris if you go onto the North east section and look for a topic named "track car" there are some on there. I am offshore at the minute and cannot post some new ones.

I wish I had the money. I quite like the 20v engine and as I am mainly going to use this car for drag racing a R32 motor would put me up against skylines etc and I know I would never match them .

Jabbasport seem to be one of the leading UK companies when it comes to tuning modern VAG engines, so worth asking them.
