Whenever Im in the RS 996/997 Turbo drivers wave/nod /signal/smile/ stop have a chat with me ....

Now when Im in the GT2 they look the other way !

Is this because they have to drive a car with lots of " Driver Assists"
such as PSM/TCM /Sat Nav /4X4 wheel drive and look on in envy at a " Pure 911 " with only your right foot and ABS as your friend ?

Ive passed 12 Turbos in the last week and not one have acknowleged me ( Serious )

Even the bloke down our road who has a 996 Turbo with a " SPORTS EXHAUST " !!!!!
wont even stop and chat !!!!

They are actually saving your a55.

Imagine, even on a straight road.....they wave to you - you wave back....take one hand off steering wheel.....slight millisecond loss of concentration and wham, you are heading backwards through a hedge in a fireball....... wink

Tim, I've had a lot of neg in the GT2, compared to the RS.

Most drivers are intimidated by the GT2 widowmaker tag, have heard lots of "I could not handle one of those" comments..

Also problem becomes worse when they lap tracks quicker than the RS cars. A certain aura and arrogance appears around the GT2 driver, that can truly tame the beast. biggrin

I always give an acknowledgement to other Porsche drivers with the exception of the Cayenne. The older the Porsche the more chance of a return wave. However the most obnoxious group of Porsche drivers who seem so far up their own a55es is without a doubt the Cayman brigade.(IMO of course)

I was driving in the herts essex border kind of area on the weekend, when I saw this silver Mk1 996 GT2. Obviously this was a Parr modified car with cargraphic exhaust and obviously the driver was a real man, seeing as he owner this Uber car. I guessed he must be a racing driver, maybe even a record holder, the way he handled the car through 30 and 40 mph zones, arm on the window, mobile phone to the ear, this told me he must have cut his teeth using GT3 RS's for four years on trackdays.....how else would he have intrinsically have known how to handle such a beast!

Of course I stopped to the side of the road and gave this "hero" a royal wave, and a little cheer for his bravery.

You don't need to be a racing driver, in order to drive a GT2 properly.. But you do need to be a good peddaler!

Hi, Tim when I picked my GT2 last week I stopped at a petrol station and had a chat with someone driving a standard 996 Carrera, I think alot of people are jealous esp when they see a GT2, rather than swallowing there pride and acknowledge someone with a rare car as a GT2 they'll look the other way but, when they see a 911 which is cheaper than there's they'll wave at them.

Ah yes, but I'm sure this brave man/racing driver/hero wasn't a cyclist

I have never driven a GT2 nor a G3T3, but I find it very hard to believe that you can't drive that car while being relaxed on normal roads and normal speeds.
I've had my fair share of dangerous vehicles (E30 200bhp.. bad tyres + greasy roads), and still there would be some "jolly" days where I'd spend more time sideways than straight (long time ago, don't ask).

The only differences with the GT2 is 1) the price of the thing 2) rear engine is trickier 3) violent power. Ok so don't slide around unnecessarily, but not being able to drive it relaxed on a clear day, I would guess that's far fetched!
