GTO3-R Tyres

A friend's car is currently having a service. The garage has reported that all four tyres need replacing - and has quoted more for the fronts than the rears!

1) As the car is in the "dock", what size/profile are the tyres (I assume Z rating applies...)
2) What is the preferred tyre of the Nobility?
3) He has been quoted (Yokohama) Front £286.82 + VAT each, Rear £164.45 + VAT each. Is this reasonable?

Lots of postings on tyres. Basically the best tyre will depend upon how you intend to use them.

Try the search facility there's loads of stuff there about tyres.

Personally I prefer P0 Rossos for almost exclusively road work. Your prices seem expensive, compared to "my" tyre guy - he is mobile where are you based?

The factory recommend Pirelli P Zero Rosso all round. Tell your friend he should be able to get all four fitted including VAT for about £650. Thats what I paid in April.

As is is so wet this summer, I have had a set of bridgestone RE050A's fitted to a second set of wheels, very pleased with them..funny enough Kwik fit were the cheapest, I got them for £500 for the full set, as they are doing buy 3 get 1 free.

I had some of these fitted in Jan and were 552. will need some rears after donny, so may give kwik fit a call.

They quoted around that price, then i said would they match aother company and said they quoted £500, he said no problem.

Good so far, but then I have only done 100 miles on them..

I've RE040s on the Z and S02s on the track car, both have worn surprisingly well for bridgestones, I might try a set of RE050s next.

Lasted for ages on the front. My '03 car still has the orginal passenger side on. Not sure about the rears yet.

Sounds promising, how'd you find the grip? The 040s are pretty deadly in the wet!

Just order 2 rears (RE050A) for after donny and they have come in at £134.5ea last time they were £152ea. So if the front come in cheap also then a set should come in under £500 without any deals (tyre design must be on the way out again).
