I have a couple of cars set up, A sccoby & The Sparco Evo.
Just max up everything to race spec, set the rear tyres to around 50psi, Stiffen up front springs, Lower the car to the floor & playaround with the gearbox untill you get the car slipping around. Dont forget to remove Traction & Stability Control as it makes it a lot easier.
I found RWD cars a bit to easy to loose & 4 wheel drifting is a bit easier to control

Class D AE86. Tweaked suspension, rear LSD, 135bhp. Will go sideways forever at the drop of a hat.
It's hugely easier to drift than the S15 D1 car that you win early on.

S15 Silvia, 2 way diff, top notch everything on the chassis, stiff at the back, softer at the front and decent power off you go!
Managed to drift a complete lap of the full Maple Valley circuit the other night without spinning or crashing, Including the huuuuuge first right hander, I was mighty proud!

Front engine/RWD, LSD, enough power to wheelspin easily without being impossible to get traction, and a bit softer in the front than the back, and you should be away laughing. Mid-engine/RWD cars are a lot twitchier but you can still do it, front engine easier to start with though. 4wd cars - stiffen the rear suspension up a lot, adjust centre diff balance to the rear if you can, and give it plenty of power.
I also find adjusting brake bias further to the rear helps get the tail out under brakes for a nice sideways turn-in.

its about more than turning in then giving it max revs.
silvias lightly tweaked are a good starter car.
1.5 way or 1 way dif is handy when you're starting, as its a little more stable and predictable, and easier to adjust your line mid corner.
