Well my prefect XJR has produce a knocking noise comming from the rear passanger side wheel. I will have a look under it at the weekend but is there anything thats known to go wrong in this area.
It sounds like a metal on metal clunk such as a worn bush though it doesnt knock over every bump, sometimes hardly at all, Ive noticed it'll sometimes knock when braking quite hard and the weight is shifting to the front of the car, others going round a corner.
Any ideas thankx!

Try Front ARB Bushes for fore/aft location and check condition of ARB droplinks.

Could this be expensive?

I have no idea what the problem might be or what has caused it but I can assure you if it's on an XJR it'll be expensive rolleyes Jaguar main dealer wanted £59 to fit a £6 rubber exhaust bracket on my XJR, I guess it'll depend on how handy you are with the spanner, or whether you have a local specialist nearby it becomes big money if you need to use a main dealer, I don't feel Jaguar parts are outrageously expensive but there labour charges are extortionate, good luck.

I had a similar noise, turned out to be the bumper mounts shot, stupid I know. Cost £80 and an easy fit.
This might help

A friend of mine had a similar sounding knock on his '98 XJR. Turned out to be the rear silencer about to separate from the middle section of pipe.

We had a similar knock in our old XJ6 its a dodgey rear shock absorber, it'll just need replacing.
