I Have a 2005 55 Focus 16 LX,but my spark plug recess where the ht leads sit keep filling with water ford dealer is tell me it is rain water coming in from below the wind screen but i have put a hose pipe all over it and know water drips onto the engine,It is rain water as the cars does not use and water Help!!!!

Assuming its the same as the older 1.6 engine take the HT leads out and have a look in the recess you should see what look like big allen key bolts (2 of them) its normally these that leak allowing coolant to seep into the recess. Normally replaceing them solves it (they are only cheap) but this is of course if it is coolant as opposed to just water.

A little water can make a hell of a mess so you may not notice it as coolant loss

I havent seen many core plug faults on the later model Focus but nothing is impossible,normally its caused by the washer jets leaking(It is a known concern), there are later spec washer jets available which should cure the fault.

on an 05 model it'll be the washer jets allowing rain water in to the engine compartment

I have been two a second ford dealer who has said its the washer jets and ford have changed the design with a rubber seal on them,so i have ordered two at the great cost of four pound; now all i need is some rain to see if works.
