I’m off to the ring for the second time (1st in the Cerbera) at the end of August. My last car was a VX220 Turbo and even remapped and with a sports exhaust it sounds like a hairdryer next to the Cerbera…..

My question is to the Cerbera owners who have been before….did you have any problems getting on and when and how do they measure the db of the car?

I have a 4.5, decatted (Gazzab’s old car if this helps) and it sounds like Armageddon.

I’d be gutted if I got there and couldn’t get on.

A few of the cars that went on the Cerburgring had problems. I think as yours is decatted it may well atract some attention, I think the limits were about 100-104 dbs.

Mine has a standard exhust and wasn't even checked.

Mine is a 4.5 de-cat, and yes I had problems getting on the 'ring. In the end I had to borrow some track day silencers.

I do think that we managed to upset them though, having so many Cerbs together and all with RAF roundels on the doors! hehe At one point they were practically sticking the test wand up the exhaust to make sure we failed.

I've no idea how the racing Viper gets away with it... wink

Are they checked at the barier or in the car park? I was planning on just driving VERY sensibly...even freewheeling into the car park.

I'll buy a meter before I go and measure the noise level...do you know where they take the measurement from?

I was always advised that as long as you were sensible around the car park and the barriers then they were lenient on their 100db rule. However on the Cerburgring trip myself and a number of others were sent packing - but then we were there en masse and also were stickered up with Raf roundels which prolly didn't help hehe. Most got on using trackday silencers bolted on so would advise taking some of these if you can borrow or buy a set before you go. They didn't fit my car however but got on at the entrance at Adenau (drive to the village and it's down the side by the little cafe)- it's about a 3rd of the way in but they use different tckts so you buy one from the old guy there and you get the remainder of that lap and then rejoin at the track barriers (probably therefore avoiding the marshalls) for another full lap. Towards the end of the day the marshalls all seemed to disband anyway and it was more relaxed even at the main entrance.

If I remember correctly Gazzab's car was exceptionally loud as think it also runs cone induction, best I think to have a back up plan but I wouldn't be surprised if you actually get on unquestioned unless there is a group of tivvers together.

They collared us at the barrier then pulled you over to the right immediately after the barrier. From what I could see from in the car they were pretty much sticking the meter right next to the zorst and not the .5m 45degree thing - I recorded a 116db and they just shook their heads and said "It's over for you, go home".

Same info as everybody else except I think the Marshalls were on a "let's reduce the number of drivers" thing during the lunch period.
There were several crashes and I think they thought ' enuf wuz enuf'
They pulled me over at the entrance, gave me colonic irrigation and said that I was 108db..... and mine's a standard, catted exhaust !!
I went back 30 mins later and there wasn't even a Marshall on the gate.
You just have to be lucky !
Several others, as has already ben mentioned, just went down to Adenau and had no problem whatsoever.

Good Luck and have a great day - Which day are you going by the way ??

When dad was at brunters with the old ceRB' (DECATS & SPORTS) they said go to 4000rpm so he went to 3000 and we was still over, so we came back later, then reducing our revs to 2500 and JUST got on, try an sneak a few revs under the limit!

Hi dkennedyvxt,

Nürburgring (GP-Track or Nordschleife) is one of the last racetracks where you would not have any problems with db / noise. I´m racing since 12 years at the nürburgring with different cars. I´m a german TVR Cerbera Owner and I´m at the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. This is middle of August.

I was only checked once on the Cerburgring trip, and when told "POWER, POWER" by the marshall, I revved to a rather excessive 2750rpm wink

And was waved forward with a cheery, if a little bemused, smile hehe

I had temporary problems too on the Cerburgring trip, but actually I am not sure that it was a noise issue - as others have said, there were quite a few of us and maybe we put some noses out of joint.

Not sure how they were measuring, but they asked for 3000 revs I gave them 2000 and failed at 108dB allegedly. Fortunately, I was leant some silencers, waited for a shift change and off I went. With the silencers 'we' measured the noise level at 98dB smile.

Have a fab trip, a group of us are going back over in October spin

I'm going August 31st to the 3rd, DTM weekend but the Northloop is still open. I've been many times but never with a Cerb.

My Cerb I believe is 115db (is that right Carl?) so chances are I'm likely to get tested, where can I get a set of track day silencers from? as I think these might become a good investment.

Hopefully it will be visiting joo before I go....so i'm hoping it won't matter.

Track was sodden last time I was there so really looking forward to going back and having another pop and the voice from the cerbera will be amazing reverberating off the trees smile
