Austec Racings Highly Tuned Cerbera!!!
Discussion
I saw Harry's dyno chart, jesus!!!! The amount of torque at 4-5k is astounding!!!! Hope your cars ready soon bruv!
I cant remember the figures, but overlaid onto a red-rose cerb, a red-rose is eaten for breakfast and shat out not too long after! Bloody amazing!
Harry do you have a print you can scan and pop up on here? I want people to see what a normally aspirated cerb without any increase of combustion chamber can actually produce using other tricks in the book.
I wander if the work done on your engine can be offered as an 'upgrade' to other customers at an attractive price?

I think that was Pauls plan wasnt it? Mid range torque sounds good!
OT/Ash, did you get my mail?
The point of this thread was to rattle Harry, I want to know whats been done to get the power his chart showed (I saw it on the big plasma screen Paul has wired up!), Paul's always too busy to talk about stuff in detail, Harry?????? Where the fock are you man?
What kind of %age figures above a red rose?
10%?
I'm no techincal guru, but from what harry said his engine was slightly above a 4.5.
I was having a good chat with Nigel (Mars) about volumetric efficiency and what the max power you can get out of a 4.5 could be with extensive headwork etc and hopefully he will come on and tell you more as I don't know much
Hopefully Harry will divulge a bit more and also any indication on bhp/torque and when he will have the beast fully mapped and running
cheers

When I was there last it looked a long way off being finished, just like my project
though he's got a running engine, so maybe it was just the state of his car that made me think that.
But the dyno chart looked impressive, apparently he's waiting for new injectors and a remap or something...
Sadly the 'you've been tangoed' orange paint is already peeling off the block! should have gone polished Harry!!!!
I think theres room to produce more mid-range, would be interesting to see the chart again, thats why I banged this post up.
I want spec and a chart! or maybe we have to wait till its mapped with the new injectors?

Spoke to Harry yesterday, he is in Cuba mate, doing some dodgy arms deal

Back on the 16th/17th IIRC
Ash, can you just confirm your Email address as sxsonline@googlemail.com as I've tried messaging you through your profile and need to know if you have it.
Important re. your Phoenix engine!!

I'm in Cuba btw

Not seen any recent graphs, but I know a lot is going on at present, last ones I saw were with the stsandard injectors stuggling mid range and those were 40-100lbs up in torque sub 3k5rpm than the best RR with short induction etc.
What sort of figures we looking at Ash, I don't mind saying, I'll put a series of graphs up when I have them and its complete

Just read the rest of the posts, not just the first

Tony here on pleasure not business, don't think HMG would approve
.
Ash if what you saw was a 5k5rpm run then that is nearly three weeks old, I was expecting the new injectors to be here by now tbh, everything takles 4 times longer than you think, as you know
.
Re the spec I will post all when its finished but the curve you saw was for a very basic map, standard 4.2 intakes, standard 4.5 manifolds/exhaust + the rebuilt engine. The actual engine is a a 4.525 not a standard 4.475; 50cc to allow for the slighly bigger pistons, ali cnc'd molly skirted ones and to Austecs own design. The compression is north of a 4.5RR though, running a fast road cam (not racer). The bottom end has been balanced to within 0.2gram and has a billet crank and the three centre caps billet too (the racers only ever had the centre one billet
). There are some very interesting head tweaks straight out of the Aston racing programme
.
I was hoping to pick the car up soon but if the injectors are not here yet then I'm
, as that means the exhaust won't have been finalised yet either.

Harry, any idea if this will turn into an off the shelf/ upgrade spec offering from Austec or is this a custom project?
The spec minus the billet crank would, I imagine, be the base line for any future 'high end' rebuild tbh. A lot of the learning from previous rebuilds plus a few more since Dave from Aston joined have gone into it. Its a evolution and you never knwo the next one may even improve upon it. Some said the compression may have been a step too far, me included, but so far the results are justifying Pauls selection. It has though lead to more than one headache in the sealing department

. I was rather hoping that things would have been finished whilst I've been away tbh and from whats been said I'm not so sure.
In passing last time I saw it, Paul did say I might need to go on a more advanced driving course
, looking forward to it

That sounds like a very good spec imo. I know because I do the same on the chevys so appreciate how much work has been done here. Do they dowel the caps?
