E46 Front bumper/spoiler removal

How easy is it to remove the front bumper/spoiler of an E46 sport?
Reason for asking is mine was stolen last night while parked on street in a "nice" north london area.
Apparently there is a spree of this in my area at the mo. 3 so far this week. Last spree was 3 months ago accoring to BiB. They then come back for the replaced item.
Looks like a professional job as no obvious damage. All electrics carefully disconnected.
Cars on it's way to be repaired but how long do you think it would have taken them in the dark?
Is there anything that can be done to make it more difficult to remove?

If you start messing with preventative devices (chains, locks, etc..) they may only end up damaging other bits whilst trying to remove it!

"Arranging" parking is not an option. I live off a Broadway which has Pay and Display parking so if I get to park near to the house it's a bonus.One thing to suggest might be to park as close as possible to the car in front - perhaps clear it with a neighbour first?

Cost, just my insurance excess (and the rise in mine and your insurance).
"Replacements" from ebay are £150-300 depending on if they still have all the ancillaries attached (foglights, horns etc.). But I guess I might get a PERFECT match for mine from there....
