Tuning the XU10J4

Just been given a 306 S16 as a free donor for a project and am after any advice about the way to go with this engine. It hasn't run for at least a year so I think that a full strip will probably be in order. The car has done 140,000 miles, engine unknown, and look to be in reasonable shape. I have seen that a rot and fitting bigger inlet vavues is posible, but a bit pricey, and some sem to think that the T16 was basically the same, so is fitting a turbo an option?

Budget is limited but time is not!

Forgot to add, will be putting it in the back of the new car so does anyone know of a cablechange gearbox that will fit? It would make my life that much easier if there i one.
