At least I think its called the fuel rail.. biggrin

the topmost engine piece that sits on top of the injectors, four obvious bolts hold it down, but how is it connected to the injectors it sits on? im trying to dissasemble the upper/intake section of the engine to get down as far as getting the rocker cover off so I can take some pictures of the cams.

when taking off this topmost "fuel rail" section, am I at risk of spilling fuel? id rather ask first rather than risk being the cause of an engine fire biggrin does fuel supply need to be cut off somewhere before doing any of this? also when removing the air boxes which clamp to the manifold, on the offside, what are the two hoses that are plugged into this airbox for? one obviously goes to an oily bit of the engine smile

Excuse the stupidity, but if you don't ask, you remain stupid...

Injectors are held in by nothing more than pressure/friction of their o-rings but they are at opposing angles making the whole a little difficult to pull out (a 4-cyl fuel rail is a PoP to get off).

Buy some nylon lube spray from Halfords (WD40 eats into rubber perishing it over time) and spray a lot over the hole where the injectors enter the manifold, then just pull gently but firmly. May need to rock the rail from side to side.

Be prepared to need to replace the injector 'o' rings, as they get brittle with age.
They are from a Granada Scorpio, for ford dealers stock them.

A bit of fuel will come out, but not very much at all. It'll evaporate by the time you search for a rag.
The hoses on airbox are breather/crankcase pressure hoses. Thats all. HTH.
