54 Plate Turbo S, first thoughts
Discussion
Still not sure about biting the bullet, so hired a car for a few days to get a feel for it.
So, initial thoughts/observations.
By *** it's fast.
2x the power of the Chim 500, and by god does it show it.
I'm missing the sound track of the Chim.
on the other hand I'm enjoying the abscence of the road roar on the motorway.
I think I'm likely to lose my license in this, than in the TVR. It's stealthily quick, the TVR feels quicker. The porsche is actually quicker. Now I'm not sure that outside the racetrack or timetrials that's a good thing, but by god is it fun!
Luggage space, forget it the TVR wins hands down, but the Porche does have the +2 seats.
I've found the sat/nat console very unintuitive, as most buttons seem to the the opposite of what you'd expect. Somethings you'd expect to work such as volume up/down change the radio station on the steering wheel are missing.
Now, just got to work out which bank to rob to get my own Turbo S now.
Somebody convince me that I only need a C2..please!

My first 911 was an early 3.4 C2 with factory sports suspension.
It was for me a brilliant drive and plenty fast enough for real world/real road driving.
I now have a 997 GT3 which is definately faster etc, but to be honest I find very few opportunities to use it to it's full potential without being silly on the road.
So for everyday road driving I personally think I could go back to my early C2 and have almost as much fun as the GT3.
That's just me of course, not as young as I used to be either !!

no point, take a dose of corruption, tastes good.
I'm suspecting this might be the case, but 25k isn't going to get me a whole heap of Turbo, but quite a lot of C2..Like for like, I know the interior of the earlier Turbo is going to look very dated, but is it actually likely to be quicker than a modern C2?
Just seen an early C2 cab from this lot http://www.sascron.co.uk/ had a quick look.
Lot of car for 20k, but high mileage, and doesn't look well cared for.
Lots of exhaust rattle when started, and guy wasn't overly enthusiastic when I said I'd probably go for the 211 point Porsche check, regardless of not getting the warranty.
Take that as you want.
On the one hand, I'm thinking the 5k saving on the window price and 1k for not having the warranty, gives me a 6k fighting fund.
On the other hand, I'm not sure how far that will go against some of the problems I might get on a high mileage early 996 engine?
Anyone got any thoughts?

I am not surprised, thats 100 checks more than normal
(or has it changed its name?)
yeah just thought that and the new 997 TT cab surely isnt going to help. Looking to buy it from a dealer, but a ferrari dealer.
CS, do you know much about these cars? Am i better off staying away from the S due to the ceramics? What i dont want to do is buy an expensive TT Cab and then see the prices go into free fall when the new one comes out.
