First post on here, been hanging around for a bit though.

As the title says this is to do with a parking ticket I was issued in Edinburgh and am now disputing.

I parked my motorbike in a pay and display parking bay as there were no designated motorbike spaces in the vicinity. I purchased a ticket and placed it on the tank of the bike (not ideal but what can you do). On returning to the bike within the display time I found a parking attendant issuing a ticket for not having a parking ticket displayed. I explained the situation and he told me to dispute it and I would have the fine dropped. So I did this and to my great surprise they are refusing to drop the fine. I'm not sure where to go from here as it's basically my word against there’s. Has anyone had any experience of fighting these sorts of things?

Any help would be great.

I know it's only £30 but is really annoys me that they effectively consider me a liar.

Sorry mate i don't Does sound rediculous since there is nowhere on a bike to put a ticket where it can't either fall off or get pinched.

Does your bike have a center stand? If both wheels are off the ground when parked you may be able to get around the wording of their terms.

Just out of interest, how often are both wheels off the ground when on a centre stand...one or the other, but not both???

Do you still have the sticky pay & display sticker that you put on your tank??

If not and I hate to say but they will always win.......I know it's a pain but there is probably nothing you can do

Budgie,

It all comes down to how much do you want to fight and how big are your "spherical and in the plural"?

If you really did buy a ticket (and I am not doubting that you did), then hire your own forensic expert. Residue from the sticky bit will still be on your bike. Now convince a jury that they can't be sure beyond all reasonable doubt that you did buy a ticket, then ask the court to make an order to reimburse the costs of your expert (forensic) witness.

Of course you won't do this as it is a very high risk approach, but perhaps writing to them very politely and saying that you intend to hire an expert, will be disputing their claim and will be sueing for costs, will be enough for them to drop the claim.)

Ask to see all the CCD camera evidence covering the parking area ("oh, you don't have a camera on that area - how can you say someone didn't nick my ticket&quotwink - you get the idea,
