Hi all, seem to have lots of very rapid clicking noises behind the rear seats as im driving along! its intermittent and seems ok after a run out! had a look behind the helmit hole and seen lots of wires, black boxes ect! what are these for? one says alarm, another immobilizer! what are the rest? dont want to touch anything untill you guys say its ok? what can cause this noise? if this is the pob?

Does it change with road speed? My rear brakes 'click' or catch sometimes

I think its only the alarm and immobilizer control boxes behind the helmet holder, if they work ok I can't imagine they would be clicking?
Maybe the noise is a cv joint, they click when there worn although they are very reliable.scratchchin
Maybe it could be the antiroll bar rose joint rattlingscratchchin

If it's not road sped related then sounds like it might be a relay - but it would have to be very loud for you to hear it though whilst driving??

The central locking/doors/windows control box probably on the right hand side on top of the fuel tank - four plugs off it - clicks. But shouldn't when you're driving I don't think. You'll also have an indicators/lights box.

If you can here the noise at low speeds and it increases with speed,it`s your rear brake calipers. They usually have a pin missing which lets your pads wobble around. You can cure this with heat resistant silicone or just ignore it.It`ll come and go with time.

The carbon can is a filter that the fuel tank vents through.

The valve on top of the can opens when the fuel pump is running. The valve is connected to the 4 way in the vee of the engine (on an AJPV8) that links the inlet manifolds to the O/S airbox.

So the fuel tank always vents through the can.

The manifolds vent through it only when the fuel pump is running. No idea why they need to.
