knocking on acc/dec

I drove in the rain today and went through sev big puddles. I then later heard a knocking sound from the front? when braking or accelerating any ideas on what this could be??

Can you describe the knocking sound in a bit more detail? Is it a metallic sound, etc.? Also, is the knocking only present on accel/decel or when the car is in motion (steady speed)? Does applying the brakes alter the knocking? Does the frequency of the knocking increase/decrease with vehicle speed?

knocking once like taping the inside of the trunk only when accelerating from a stop or decelerating then stops like something int the nose compartment is loose?? but i cant see anything loose? Im gonna go drive it and see what i think.

Got the same thing happening in both of my S4s's too. Only in the wet. Everything has been checked and rechecked 100 times. Shockers replaced, so have the bushes. Everything is tied down where it's supposed to be. They both still do it in the wet. It's just the little gremlin that lives in each Esprit giving them their personality.

Check the Jack and the handle, it's only held on by a strap and sometimes it shifts.

I have heard of someone in the Lotus club that someone from the factory had left a tool that was sliding around up front. They finally found it and it had the persons name on it. When the Lotus club arranged for a tour of the factory he took the tool back to the UK and personally gave the tool back to individual who still worked there. They all had a good laugh agout that one.

yeah when the rain stopped and i took it back out the knocking was 99% gone. It knocked once then stopped. It seemed like a wet thing . i went james bond through a flood puddle near the lotus upgrade garage and it started.. Don at the garage said he was surprised to see me due to flooding... Car ran great and kept me dry though... Don said it might not be a good idea to go too deep in the water cause it could slip the timing belt...Timing belt was dry and the car ran sweet...

just drove it again no knocking at all. Light rain no puddles. Seems like when you get it super wet there can be a wet knock that goes away when dry..... I love the esprit...
