Article here about thriving market in points being taken by other licence holders in France & Spain. Even adverts on Ebay.

The authorities say there's nothing they can do about it - not the same as the UK approach!

Interesting. At the current time I understand that being caught for speeding in France will not affect your UK license, so you could in theory offer to accept any number of tickets on behalf of French motorists. This loophole will be closed by having your UK license endorsed for offences in certain overseas countries.

However, there could be more international trade in the future, where people from a country with no "speed points treaty" could offer to accept tickets for people in France or UK with no risk. I.e. the only risk to them would be perverting the course of justice, and if they are in a country which didn't give a monkeys about your overseas convictions and had no extradition treaty then there would be no risk to the person accepting the points. Obviously there is significant risk to the person who has committed the speeding offence if they get caught trying to fiddle the system, but they only have to do it like one time.

I was amazed by the lawyer who said that he had clients who had rinsed their own license, and their grandmas, and their granddads!!! You'd think they'd get the message and start being careful at some point.

Speed cameras pervert justice.

Scrap them all and shun their operators.
