fitting rear shelf speaker

Have taken the carpet down in the boot and found the shelf already has holes cut for a 13cm speakers, can't see any wiring in place though, do the come prewired or will I have to run new speaker cable?

I suspect you'll have to run new cables. It's a doddle though - I did it for power and signal cables for an amp in the boot.

If you start from the boot, you can loop the cables up over the passenger side rear wheel arch, then by pulling aside the interior trim by the bottom of the passenger seat belt, fish the wires out and run them under the carpet down the passenger door sill. From there it's easy to feed them up round the passenger footwell and in behind the head unit.

Just arm youself in advance with a tube of Evo Stick contact adhesive and a can a spray adhesive to stick all the carpets back in place.

Not only is there no wiring in place for rear speakers the radio plug only has 4 wires coming out (tight b4stards at tvr) I found it easier to fit a new plug and rejoin rest of the wires. You can fit 160 speakers btw by using a small spacer behind the speaker. I have some photos can post if interested.

ps, word of warning. spray adehsive is v messy and flys all over when used inside the car.

Hi Paul, E.M. wont seem to let me attach pics so here we go....I think i enlarged the existing holes but there isnt enough room for speakers to clear fuel tank so i scrounged an extra set of speaker rims and glued them back to back(usually available as many applications dont require them) . This brought the speakers forwards by about 10mm allowing them to fit. The back of the speakers protrude into the 'cubby hole' part of the boot thro the carpet but this is no problem as all out of sight and it gives easy access for wiring etc.....ps . Ooops, it looks like the speakers are 130s, note last pic. Had 160s in chim. I think you'll find the holes only accomodate a 100mm speaker

Got mine in, they sound ok, not as nice as the 20cm one I had in the Griff but they will do the job. The holes in mine were already cut for 13cm speakers so just bolted in, I ran the cable over the wheel arch, down the access panel and then along the inside of the sill (which was the hardest bit, had to use a coat hanger to pull the cable through).

I have two poxy little speakers and the only time I put the stereo on is when my son wants to hear mr blue sky by elo!
