Alignment Check - Boxster S
Discussion
Our Boxster S has excessive wear on the inside edge on the front tyres.
I know I can get a full alignment check at Porsche for £200+ but I've been quoted a lot less from a local tyre specialist. Is this false economy?
Porsche have said their alignment takes about 2 hours yet the local tyre specialist says it will be about 2 hours.
Anyone got any views as to the best way forward?
Thanks
Paul

Make sure you are getting a like for like
There is big difference between a 4 wheel alignment and a tracking check
One takes 10 mines the other about 90 mins to 2 hours
If you can find a specialist they should charge about £80 ( search for laser alignment in yell.com and then ask them what they carry out as part of the check/adjustment) I just booked my wife’s car into wheels in motion in Hemel (even have their own forum)

The Porsche service is expensive because of the time it takes to set the car up (at OPC labour rates) on the dedicated equipment. Most tyre specialists don't have this. Best alternative would be someone like JZM, Parr, etc, who would also 'tune' the set up to suit your driving style.

Hello
Most porsche dealers charge 300 pounds for an alignment....
A specialist would be in the region of 150 plus...not 80 pounds.

on the other hand my local OPC doesn't have its own equipment - the place where they take it to charge approx 60 quid and take about 1 hour. Most porsche dealers charge 300 pounds for an alignment....
