Hi everyone,
hope someone can help me out.
I'm going to be doing a turbo conversion this week.
i have my turbo and waste gate, and to run them I've bought a megasquirt ECU.
but i need to know what pin in my current ECU goes to what sensor, solenoid, injectors etc.

all help will be gratefully appreciated.

cheers

Adam.

How the feck are you doing a turbo install in a chim? I'd be delighted to find out!

Cheers

it's not going to be too hard really!
i got a big ass turbo, (would post a pic but i don't know how) an external wastegate, boost controller to run the wastegate, and there's a load of room to put an intercooler in front of the radiator.
i know some people will have a fit about this but i haven't done anything to the internals you, but according to a very good engine builder, i should be able to run this set-up at about 6psi which will give me (give or take) an extra 120bhp.
when i finally get to upgrade the internals the turbo is sufficient to give a 1000+bhp.

should have this little part of the project finished by Friday, so I'll keep you posted.
cheers,
Adam.

1000 HP out of a rover V8laughlaughlaughlaughlaugh
For how many nano seconds would it last before an expensive mushroom cloud.

Would you care to name the engine builder per chance.
Paul.

My 4.6 started with a CR of about 10.5:1 and it took about 7 psi in this spec without charge cooling without any apparent problems. It would pink a little bit from time to time but I used water injection to suppress this. I think 6-7 psi is about the point that charge cooling becomes worth while - below that point it seems that the pressure drop and (paradoxically) heat induced by the charge cooler typically outweigh the benefits of the cooling.

start reading the thread properly!
the turbo is capable of producing 1000+bhp
besides once the internals are upgraded there is not much rover left in it to destroy.
my point of saying this is that once it is set up, the conversion can give me more power than i will ever need or be able to use, the quest to get the most power i possibly can out of my chimaera is over!!!
cheers, Adam.

hmmmmm...i think we need to meet up again....after going for a spin with the nitros i need to have a blast with the turbo...

by the way i have got a tig welder now so making the manifolds for mounting the throttle bodies is not a problem

hi andy,
throttle bodies no longer have a place under my bonnet,
it's too hard to use them with a turbo, cos from the inter cooler the pipes to all the individual t/b's have to be the same length, so it will look like silver spaghetti under my bonnet and it will be a lot of hard work to do it, so back on to the plenum and shorter trumpets,
i se yous thinking about a megasquirt?
got mine on Thursday, hopefully with a little help from some pistonheaders i should have it running by Monday.
if you are going to do a megasquirt i have the throttle bodies in the garage if your interested.

how are things coming on with you?

half the car is painted but it doesnt look too good without the laquer. So hopefully i shall be doing that next week.

Maybe 1 or 2 weeks time i can introduce the body to the chassis...they have spent a long time apart and i think they are missing each other!!!

So hopefully very soon it will be back on the road.

What turbo are you going for?

Glad you have got a MS...you can help set mine up when i get it!!! hehe
