I decided to remove the rear seat back in my 997 (this took about 15 seconds each side)

The child seats are now slightly more reclined than before and have moved back an extra 3 to 4 inches.

I also removed the seat bottoms (these are only Velcroed in) and at the bottom of the child seats is a plastic ramp (and once pulled out) means the seats fit snugly rather than sit too proud

It's a good plan. I may do the same to my 993.

You may want to try and remove the post/ brackets that are still protruding from the side of the car. Look like they could hurt a child.

How do you remove the seat backs? From what I can see there is very little difference between the rear seats in a 996 and a 997 so I'm assuming it is the same procedure?

On the outer side (nearest the window, where the seat backs hinge) there is a black plastic cap - this simply slides off to reveal a bolt. Undue the bolt (i used an allen key) and then slide the seat back towards you and off the inside edge bolt.

Bear with me here, first kid due in December so not really
up to speed on the baby seat front but is there a "newborn"
baby seat that fits in the back of a 996/ 997. The ones
I've seen on this forum appear to be for the 3+ year kid
and I'd like to bring first born back from hospital in the
911.

Hi Dougie,

I have been trying to get to the bottom of this for about 2 weeks now. I have a 2 week old baby and am looking for a 996 Turbo. I spent ages trying to find out then found a clip on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb08gStDiyE shouwing it can be done. The baby seat you need is a maxi-cosy cabrio - it is quite common and fits on a bugaboo. I took it to the porsche dealership on Friday and tried it out. It fits fine and the wife could still get in the front(just!). I think that there would be more room if we removed the rear seat as well.
Read in another forum (poss those below) that you can get a bugaboo in the boot with the wheels off. Not tried it yet but am hoping!!

Also, may be worth reading these threads:

and

Hope that helps - and good luck~~!

Thanks for links, had a look but missed them. So it looks like
it'll work as long as I get the baby seat and the rolly thing
that attaches that fits the C4S. I did have PHer Reidy10 0's youngster at the house today in his pram, an Apple something,
and looking at the layout, it must understeer like F*ck!

Can't fit a maxi cosi behind driver though. Unless considerably shorter than 6ft.

With a 2.5 year old and junior on the way, the only way I can carry 2 children and me is with airbag deactivator with maxi cosi in passenger seat. This is 100 pound install and the trouble `i'm having is finding the clip that you need (which live on Porsche child seats).

Any one know where to get one?

Oh how things change RDM, before you know it you will be comparing chassis on Pram forums.
You could fit the wee nipper in the back of the 911 but talking from experience wait until you find out how much shit goes with the little buggers.
Buggies, 10 changes of clothes, nappies, bottels, food, toys etc etc.
Need to get Lorrie a nice family wagon if you are going to keep your toy.
By the way it is a eye candy pram i am currently driving.

Also worth mentioning is that you should check out on the net crash ratings for the baby seats, my brother in law is a road safety officer and i was amazed to find out that the most expensive seats are not the best.
Recaro get a bad write up so watch out.

Out of interest, which car seats did you use ? I am planning to do the same in a 996.

Qureshia, just the question I was going to ask. They look as if they fit pretty well.

Not sure if this is just for GT3's BUT for my C4S, i have my 1 year old sitting in a Mamas & Papas Pro-tec child seat (£130-£150) and it sits very well in the rear and depending on the passenger size, the child seat can recline leaving enough space for passenger to sit comfortable (Wife is 5,7). Quinny Zapp push chair just fits into the front bonnet of my C4S which bare in mind is approx 50litres less than a standard C2's front bonnet.

Porsche have there own child seats but you are looking at between £300 - £500 for them.

Where did you get seats fitted to your GT3 (and how much did it cost)?

When at the OPC I asked and they said they wouldn't fit rear seats into a GT3 due to type approval...

Did you need some sort of 'conformity' certificate for your insurers?
