I'm doing this now. Well, I've done the easy bit of welding the seat bases back together, putting in a couple of new springs (the wires were OK on mine) and making some new foam bits. The rest is being done by a local trimmer.

The recline mechanism is a REALLY strong spring and a ratchet mechanism, so not difficult once you've got at it. (Just watch your fingers because it can move fast... wink )

Give me a yell if you want pics or me to attempt to describe it in proper words - I have one seat disassembled in the workshop at the moment.

have you thought about replacing or do you wish to keep the originals?

I have these from Zertec matched in the original leather, and carbon fibre backs, four point harness (both now just altered the passenger seat finished)as full conversion to LHD.
