Way-hey...... Richard & John take the top step in a Britcar race. Well done chaps - & buy a razor John for christ`s sake man smile If you`re going to be in the pictures make an effort for the female fans.

Well done to Steve & Simon, another strong showing - just goes to show you the pink pound is as good as anyone`s money in motorsport wink

A bit down on numbers from previous races, especially given the large turn out for Spa. Hopefully just a glitch rather than an indication of things to come.

Once again well done to the Fenland Monkey boys - bailer twin is the new carbon fibre thumbup

It's been a long time coming, but hey yes! GRRRRREAT news.

Well done to Richard, John, and all the crew. I know that Leo, Tony, etc.. have been working hard on getting it sorted.

Sorry to hear the gearbox gave up after though.

Rob.

Thanks for the kind comments! Yes, it has been a long tome coming and yes it has been hard work but thats we we go racing I guess. It was a real shame the gearbox broke (about 15 laps from the end!) as we would have loved to beat them again! It would have been a little more difficult though as Phil drove the last race on his own!

I thought the grid was pretty aweful. 20 cars including 2 Britsports and T Car. Nothing wrong with T Cars or Britsports but nor in a Britcar race. Still I did tell the EERC that their race entry policy would hurt them later in the year. I know people are saving up for the 24 hours but none the less it was not good.

On a brighter note the chap responsible for the data logger thing - so far this year a complete joke in my opinion - has some new software that somehow calculates CdA. (Not sure I understand how so I will go away and think about that). Anyway, he took our data card after practice and came back to us with figures that were almost spot on. Maybe, just maybe next year they will get their act together. On the other hand maybe, just maybe thats too late!!!!

Cheers,

Richard.

P.S. Carbon bayling wire is on order!!!

Thanks for your good wishes, although Henry giving advice on sartorial matters is a bit of a stretch, the last time I saw Henry he was wearing a silk carpet for a waistcoat. Anyway Niamh (my wife) likes the unkempt look and she is the only female fan for me. Hope we see you at Silvestone Classic weekend in the Porsche Open Henry, we all miss you.

Tony and Barry did a great job getting the car ready and we tested all day Thursday running for two hours without a hitch (well except for exposing the tyre canvas at Quarry on one occasion and laying down some extra rubber of the exit of Camp).

Qualifying didn't go quite as expected, it was intermediates to start and as the track started to dry so we gambled on slicks, the optimal tyre however was still intermediate (or some variation) and Phil Bennett was on it, in more ways than one so it was second for us (Phil is a really nice chap, even to "Gentlemen" drivers such as myself).

In the race as usual I cocked up the start, first of all not seeing the red lights go out (did they ever come on?) then had a huge over steer slide coming out of Quarry trying to fend off a 997 diving up the inside. This lost us two places but I managed to keep station and eventually handed over to Richard from 3rd leaving him with a 13 second deficit to make up. As it was he made up a whopping 45 seconds which was very impressive having lost 5th gear on lap 26 of 43. Castle Coombe is not a place to race with random gear selection so we had to call it a day.

Next stop the Silverstone Classic weekend and two rounds of the Porsche Open, we will be testing on Thursday with the Group C cars, yes we will be on track with Derek Bell in the Rothmans Porsche 962, how brilliant will that be.

Looks like an excellent weekend, if only it hadn't clashed with the BTCC. I will be at Brands though.
