How did you pay? paypal? File a claim or tell your credit card co.

FWIW I purchased a becker trafic pro from ebay and it came with everything - all the way from the Estonia!

Sorry to hear that Jon (I was looking forward to you telling me my installation instructions had worked a treat!).

I've got a CD from my 7000 Series unit that may work, but, if I were you I'd try and get your money back/file a claim through paypal as there is a pretty high chance the seller may not have been in a legal position to sell it!

I have raised a dispute panel with Pay pal, and i shall see what comes of it.
For information, i emailed becker in germany today, and got a nice response off them straight away, they gave me several uk dealers for the de-code, who see legit.

Cost for the code, was £25-00

If anyone could help me out with a copy of a disk, to try and see if it works I woudl be very grateful.

thanks

Jon

Jon ~ I've got a set of brand new original and up-to-date disks. Make me an offer and you can have them. I have the Becker unit and disks already in my GT2 then bought the same unit for the 4x4 car. I t'fore have two sets of disks and only need one set! Cost new the disks were £175 I think and they're only a few weeks old.
Victoria.

Thanks very much for the offer, still in 2 minds about this. shall think about it for a while (back on site rebuilding a very troublesome Steam Turbine Alternator - aka power station for the next and hopefully last week having been working away for nearly 9 weeks now)

It wouldnt have been so bad if while i was away, the battery hadnt gone flat and ive lost the code on the CDR22 in it and cant that get fixed till i can it to Autobahn when I finish work - so now i have 2 wonderfull radios that i cant use !

also dont want to make an offer that might be thought of as rude (well cheap)

thanks
Jon

The Seller had read the comments placed on this forum about the sale, and took offence at suggestions that it had been ripped from a car (which in fairness it arrived in its box) which it hadnt, and declined to offer more than a £10 refund!

Ebay did not have to act upon this because i bought the item outside of the auction, Paypal will not act further because their protection only covers the delivery and reciept of goods, not their quality or composition.

If anyone would like more information or detail about this, please email me seperate to the forum.

buyer beware!

Jon

You can go the Significantly not as described route by filing a claim in paypal.

If you funded the purchase via credit card you have even more rights, contact them and paypal will have the money back to you in no seconds flat.

PM me if you like.

which it is as the ad clearly states it comes with the CD which is required to work the satnav.

and if the seller is still reading this, stop being such a c*ck / con artist and supply everything that the ad said was included

just out of interest Jon, was it a 'bargin', or did you pay a fair price?

I ask because for the additional costs, if it still comes in under 100 quid, then thats okay - but if you paid a fair price for this, i'd be tempted to consider taking it to the small claims court - after all, he explicitly stated things are included that werent...

if he got it for the £30 starting price + £14 postage he did indeed get a bargain however that should not change the principle - the seller should not have withheld the disc if he said it was included (I wonder whether they were not pleased at letting it go for so little so planned to renege on the original deal and try to sell discs separately)

I agree.

But if he paid the £44 for it - then the seller offering a tenner could be considered a significant percentage of the cost back (just under 25%).

I agree the seller should have provided everything discussed - but if he did only pay £30 for the unit, then Jon wont have much sucess with the small claims court - whereas if he paid £100 for it, then it being a more realistic price for a full, working unit, he'd have much more luck at arguing the point.

How does this affect the protection your credit card offers then? Not sure how far it extends to secondhand goods...
