Pre-Trackday Curry 24th July
Discussion
Dear all,
There is a PCGB trackday at Silverstone on Friday 25th, being attended by a few of us, some watching, some driving. It should be a good day out.
Several of us thought it would be a good idea to hook up on the Thursday night before for a curry and banter and somehow I've been tasked with sorting this out, God knows how that came to pass.
Still, we have a couple of choices as I see it. These are (in no order of preference):
1) Curry in Daventry, specifically the Shahi, as frequented by Mr Schumacher and Frank Bruno, possibly not together though;
2) Curry in Milton Keynes, specifically the Jaipur.
There's actually a...
3) Takeaway curry and beer at my place on the back deck watching the boats and the birdies, but I haven't run that past Emma...yet! I have a gas barbeque but I won't inflict that on your poor souls.
I'm not bothered which one, personally. Although Daventry is about 5 mins drive away from me so we could get cabs up and back, and as I have my neighbours drive for the next two months, parking for about 6 cars would be both secure and no problem.
There is also local accomodation about 5 minutes walk down the canal towpath if anyone wants to stop Thursday night, or there are local hotels.
Please also note this is open to non-Porker PH-ers - I know some of you are near or around Daventry, so anyone is welcome to join us.
To the best of my knowledge, the following have already expressed an interest:
1) Don and Mrs Don;
2) Domster;
3) Daz;
4) Me and the speeding Boxster lady;
5) MauriceC2S (although he lives in my dream house as I discovered, begrudgingly he is invited!)
Sadly DeR can only join us Friday morning - the smoking jacket wearing, beer swilling wrath of his staff has to work late Thursday so cannot be removed from his ivory clad watchtower.
Let the confirmations commence....
Cheers,
Greg

Well up for curry (any curry... sure they are OK). If no room chez greg and em, I will look at a B&B or driving back to Wyc or stay with friends in Oxford/Bicester etc.

What a rotten bit of luck. I'd have been well up for a gathering of the arse-engined collective, especially when Thursday soirees are so pertinent to my Asian spice tasting preferences.
I shall raise a bouteille de Kingfisher in your general direction later that eve. (Unless Kaiser Russe has channelled it all chez Gregenheim, of course

Providing the curry night will involve lager drinking of carnage proportions I shall be attending. I will not be in the porker though as I can't do UK track days (infamous helmet issue). I am however willing to run around like a headless chicken with my tyre pressure guage and monkey wrench in a pit support role, telling people to drive faster.

Edited to say Greg look at the time of this post verses your post on Don's Porsche Post piccy thread. Kin Twilight Zone if you ask me. I see you're getting a new Porsche OPC near Silverstone. The barstewards have poached the Service Director from my Merc dealer, he's a top bloke you jammy gits. Now to find another place to service the merc.

Blimey....great minds....
Ah, I think this is on the A43 just before Towcester - seen it being built, bet Emm it was an OPC with all the stainless cladding going up. In which case then bollocks - there goes my annual drive for its service at Solihull - she'll be able to drop it in on the way to work

Gutted.
dazren said: No, once the curry house has been decided I'll ask the Gregmeister for details of the closest hoiday inn express type hotel.

I'm probably going to book into the Premier Lodge place near the circuit chaps.(if I can get in)..as I'm a lazy git and will happily drive back from Greg's and the Curry House to the lodge in order to sleep in as late as possible the Friday morning...
Should you happen to book into the same place, Daz, you can get a lift with me.
And on circuit..so long as it doesn't pee down and we can leave the roof off you're welcome to passenger with me as, sans roof, I guarantee you'll fit in my car..as I've mentioned before...
I've also got a Porsche mate coming as well who, at the moment, is scheduled to turn up the Friday morning. Any objections to another chap coming along?
