all down the side of my door! i think a conifer has dropped its sap on the car and it doeant seem to want to come off. i tried T-cut and autoglym paint renovator but they didnt work. i tried 'picking' it off but it seems welded to the paintwork. does anyone know of a product that can remove it, if there is such a thing?

many thanks nerf

Usually something like Meguiars Quick Detailer would be enough to remove fresh sap....but if it has 'set' you may need a couple of things.

Nail polish remover...and some cotton wool.

Lard is also a good solution.....rubbed on with a soft cloth....it will dissolve the sap.

Mineral spirits or denatured alcohol too.

Finally wash the affected panel and polish/wax when the sap has been removed.

I believe a clay bar will also do the job.

Clay will be fine; solvents can damage the paint if applied wrongly. A good TFR might also work

Nail varnish does the job....apply via a soft cloth, polish and wax afterwards and voila! no damage!

Here is a useful link....

Before resorting to any of the above try washing with car shampoo and warm water and if possible give the car a presoak, works for me, failing that clay is the most likely option to remove the sap
