Got a 2000 Chim with what appears to be a noisy pinion bearing in its BTR diff.

The markings/tags on it contain the following clues:

BTR Eng
Serial No: 245
Ratio : 3:45
R0076
LSD

Questions -

Is there only one type of these BTR diffs fitted to them?
Any recommendations on anyone to fit a bearing to it(perfect other than bearing noise - I'm fussy)?
Failing that, anyone do an exchange rebuilt unit for sensible money?
Do they fit them?

Sensible reach of North London preferably.

(No "matter of opinion" jokes please wink)

I should leave well alone in-case you end up with a leak wink

A few different ratio's were fitted but cant see that affecting the bearings smile

Some were fitted with Hydra-track optional extra i believe...

Out of interest what leads you to suspect the nose bearing? Has it lost pre-load?

I have one of those fitted to mine now. I think you'll find that it will probably make mine faster than yours now. Plus it's red.

Sorry to hijack guys but there seems to be a lot of activities relating to diffs at the moment wink so I have a quick question that I thought I would ask - are the hydratrak diffs fitted as an optional upgrade all the same ratio or do they vary? Is it just a case of reading the ration from the casing?

Just curious, tia..

Mine has 2 metal dog tags, one under the level plug, the other under a rear plate bolt with the info I posted above on them. The BTR bit is cast in to the casing bottom.

Don't know what the Hydratrac one looks like(also curious).

Had it up in the air with both wheels turning, noise is defo from front of diff. I must admit I have not checked the pre-load though.

It would suit me to be wrong here but I suspect this diff will be coming out frown
