Afternoon,

http://www.charlesivey.com/Porsche-Sales/details.p...

What's wrong with this car then, (apart from the colour)? New engine? Anyone know the car's history?

Cheers,
Gavin

PS. sorry if this has already been discussed, I searched for it but couldn't find anything

What makes you think something is wrong with it? Seems right price, right spec?

I thought it was a few k under-priced, Charles Ivey tend to price a bit higher than average IMO so I thought there might have been something wrong with it. On reflection though it's pretty low-spec and the mileage is quite high, probably about right then :|

Cheers for that.

Still weighing up my options at the moment. Got an A4 avant - thinking of either upgrading to a new RS4 or getting a facelift 996 and a golf. Decisions decisions. If I do go for another 911 it'll be speed yellow or guards red - my other 996s were great but blended in far too well smile

Er it's yellow and has done 64000 miles - that's why it's cheap - bad colour (for a C2) and big miles ....... there ... someone's said it. Would be intersting to know what they bid or part-exed the car for though - not very much I bet.

Cheers for that smile

I think the C2 looks good in Speed Yellow, I also quite like the carrera spoiler. Must be having an early mid-life crisis or something smile

Nah , I'd agree that the speed yellow's a good colour for the facelift , but you'll be takin a bath when you come to sell ...

.. But then don't mind me , I'm quite firmly at the zenith of my midlife biggrin

That's your answer. Probably nothing wrong with it other than it doesn't seem to have the Sports Exhaust.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks it looks good. Not sure I'd have the stones to buy it though, reckon I'll stick to a safer colour. I've had 2 996s before and I'm keen to get one that stands out a bit this time, I reckon Speed Yellow might just stand out a tad too far though.

I also like the Savannah interior, and dare I say it the Boxster red interior. My old 996s had black/grey interiors and were pretty uninspiring so I think one of these colours might be in order this time.

I think it looks brilliant. A definite change from the sea of silver and black 996s. There's something about Porsches in yellow. A 2.7RS in yellow, yum. When I was a nipper the first model porsche I bought was a yellow 993 and TBH I think that yellow really suits the lines of the 996...

There you go - it may look good but this chap conforms to the majority of the porsche buying public. Never said they weren't good cars but you lose so much money on these things that unless you can really afford to lose the money - which people are less and less able to do these days (rising interest rates, property prices etc etc) then this colour will never shift quickly. Yeah, yeah I know it's cheap but there's a Lapis/Metropole 02 996 near me at an Indy for £33k with a bit of spec and half the miles - much, much safer buy - I know safe is boring.

2nded. If you want speed yellow, then get speed yellow but negotiate hard on price. Get your arguments from pretending to part-ex a similar spec car at an OPC and you know the benchmark...hehe

I agree, however if I bought the car I'd be afraid of looking cheap. biggrin

I'm currently looking into a deal on a very similar car in midnight blue smile

Cheers

Personally i would pick Speed Yellow over Midnight Blue.
Not been funny but certain Yellow 911's look superb IMO.
As stated earlier its all relative, buy cheap sell cheap and have the colour you want.
I have a 993 C4S in Silver which suits the car and is easy to clean etc etc,but a little boring, and yes i don't think Yellow suits 993's unless its an RS or something but later 996'S look lovely in Yellow
