If you haven't already done so and before you put your hand in your pocket check for a loose HT lead to the plug(s) - had it happen a couple of times and it gives exactly the symtoms you have . . . mind you so does an iffy coil pack or naff lead winkbiggrin

If you need HT leads get them from Trackcar Solutions, they do some speical heavy duty ones and they are jumbo and should last for ages!

I had a mis-fire under load that would cure it's self if the car got REALLY hot, but would then wouldn't hold speed on the motorway.

Turned out to be a faulty coil pack.

Got leads from here as I broke 1 replacing the coil (as recomended by Andy at APM)
Got the coil here - par number 413545061 (half price compared to anywhree else !)

Not a difficult job as long as you have the hands of a 5 year old ! wink

Drop me a mail if you need any advice. thumbup

more than likely your leads, mine developed this fault after servicing after the leads had been removed two of them were arcing across to the head replaced leads and it was fine, you can test this yourself with your head under the bonnet rev the engine hard and see if you have any plug caps shorting across to earth you may have to remove airboxes t see properly

Using Olly's suppliers I've decided to go for coils, plugs and leads. Ebay seem to be cheapest for plugs. I'll let everyone know what the car feels like afterwards.
