Moto GP bikes how fast.....

220mph odd perhaps.....they are aleady around the 210`s ...I`d think the HP required to go over 220 would not be proportional to the gains in speed..i.e. another 50 hp might get you another 5-10mph......
They do 210 in a realtively short space, so the gearing is most likely not set around absolute speed. 220 may be possible with the right gearing on the bikes as they are, with enough room to do it. If 210 was the limit, drag is proportional to the square of speed, 220 requires ~10% more power. Steve.

I think that, assuming the aerodynamics are the same then an increase in speed will require a cube of that increase in power thus, to double the speed you need 2*2*2=8 times the power. Thus, if we assume current bikes can do 210mph with 240bhp then 220mph would require around 275bhp.
I know that doesn't help with identifying the current absolute top speed but it does show that the reducing the drag coefficient will have a greater effect on the top speed than adding power, so wait for a very strong tail wind before testing!

what do you think would do a standing mile quicker?, a Moto GP bike or one of those competly mental Turbo Hayabusas?
without doubt the Busa turbo. The Superstreet bikes are running 198mph in 7 secs within the quarter .
A couple of weeks back at a BSB meet , the turbo guys were invited to see if they could hit 200 down the straight from a standing start , one rider managed it ,
whereas the fastest BSB bike along that stretch during the race was leon haslam at about 170 ( obviously a rolling start too )

They being Ducati
As far as i'm aware, Yamaha haven't cracked 200mph since going to 800's... Ducati held the record in 2004 at Cataluyna pre season testing - 216 mph.Busamav said:

BSB are easily hitting 190+ at Snetedit, just a thought , but it may have something to do with where the speed trap was located ,
it was set up to catch the turbo bikes at their peak , bearing in mind they were having to stop , whereas the bSB bikes would maybe, still be accelerating and would peel off into the corner carrying a high speed
