Found a good offer for a 4,2 LSEi

I've found an advertisement for a 1994 Range Rover LSEi with 65k kms, 2nd owner, used car gurantee, Mosswood Green, full options from a Land Rover dealer. Downside is, it has damage by hail - awaiting dealer's reply for details.

Asked price is €4600

If there are only a few dents on the bonnet and the roof, I'd consider buying it, but I have no experience with Rangies. Any good?

Sounds good value (depending on the damage). Check for rust in structural areas and check all the electrics work (it'll have loads) and if so buy it. It's very low miles so check history to verify, but it should go on for ever. You'll not find so much luxury for so little cash elsewhere.

OK, dealer replied. It's not only the roof and bonnet which are damaged, but the sides a well

(official Land Rover-)Dealer said, it has fully documented service history.

Will see to get pictures of the car and damage. When my brother likes it, we'll haggle the price a bit down <€4k, so the intact parts are more worth than we paid.

I can imagine, that roof and bonnet will have the worst damage. Bonnet should be standard, but roof may be special LWB. Which of the side panels compensate the longer wheelbase; only the rear doors?

My brother talked to the owner today. It's sold Gone for €4,200 with a really bad damage by hail. Nearly every (soft alloy) panel is dented, the owner said.
Anyway, that wasn't the last on the market

Damage by hail? I don't like the sound of that. We had a hailstorm here a couple of weeks ago with golf ball sized hailstones, but no obvious damage to any vehicles. I wonder if comprehensive insurance covers damage like this? I suppose it must do, although a car really shouldn't be capable of being damaged by the weather.

The seller is located near Munich/Bavaria, so it's likely that they have bigger hail corns (word choice?). I guess, the car is a write-off, and the owner got good money from the insurance, hence the interesting price.

I've never witnessed hail that could damage cars in Frankfurt, but the local climate is different to the foothills of the Alps though
