Has anyone here that has got their GT3 or awaiting delivery experienced long delays from their original given delivery date?

I'm getting a little hacked off now as I have been given lots of different delivery dates only for them to come and go... was meant to be the end of may - begining to wonder whether the car actually exists... people will start thinking I'm making things up - but I'm +90k out of pocket...

My RS is on order from Silverstone, and they have been very determined not to give me an exact date.I have even had factory collection details, but still no date.
I guess they will only tell me when it is confirmed 100 % so to avoid your disatisfaction

Normally, OPCs delivery dates are pretty accurate. They are given a build allocation for a specific week and, once this date nears, their system tracks the car's progress. Occasionally there are delays caused by component shortages (but you would normally be informed about these) or by special orders/colours.

The initial 997 GT3 production was slightly delayed but, as far as I know, has since been very punctual. It's possible that there might be delays with pccbs owing to high demand and production limitations, but the supplying dealer should have the answers.

trouble is my car is not coming through an OPC, it's coming through a UK supplier direct from the factory - or so i'm told...

My OPC called me yesterday, the GT3RS I had ordered back in April will not be coming as the dealerships allocation is only 4 cars(I was 5th on the list apparently). Was offered a brand new GT3, didnt like the spec though, so money is being returned, be interesting to see if they offer any interest or whether I have to ask.

What should I order next?

So you paid the full price in advance of delivery! Is that normal? Seems pretty bold to me.

That sounds very fishy.

Official UK cars are only sold via PCGB. They wouldn't supply them directly to anyone else.

Most 'unofficial' imports (albeit to UK spec) are supplied via European OPCs.

Look at the contract you have signed with your OPC. There should be a clause in it saying interest is payable on deposits.

Paying up front? That was trusting of you. I couldnt do that myself. Anyway, get your money back and buy a used one to as close a spec as you wanted. Iv put mine up for sale due to not using it enough and its too much money to have sitting there for the occasional track day.

Hells teeth mate - sorry to hear you've STILL got probs. Get your money back and then wait a while - it is looking as if there will be a MK2. (If you need to send the boys round let me know btw.wink)

Well, I have just been told the car still hasn't arrived and that it will tomorrow... and therefore I can't have it until next week... do I beleive this... who knows

I only paid the full amount when requested just under two weeks ago - I was under the impression this was the same practise as an OPC? To be fair to them - who is going to take delivery of a 90K plus car only to be not paid for it...

Still i'm not filled with confidence. I booked friday, monday and tuesday day stupidly think I'd have a nice shiney new toy to play with.....

thanks for the kind words all - you most certainly have not heard the last of this yet.

I'm so anoyed I can't be bothered to edit my mistakes.

sod that, who is going to pay someone £90k before they are standing in front of a physical car with the keys in their sweaty palm? well apart from you wink

presumably you paid a deposit of a few k on ordering and that should be enough protection should you back out, a GT3 is hardly going to be hard to shift to another punter as the books are now closed

No - Just have a friend down there who I visit farily regularly (Dawlish) and also I'm staying in Kingswear this W/E, so you can imagine I was looking forward to the drive from SW London to that part of the world.

Look on the bright side (!) 5 day forecast has sh*t weather for the weekend in Exeter, so would have been sliding all over the place in those factory fresh cup tyres in the rain........second thoughts, sounds fun!
