Helmingham Hall - RV required
Discussion
Just planning ahead for this one on Sunday 5th August... this year to keep costs down we haven't reserved a space, we just pile in and have to park next to whatever arrives before and after us.
SO... we need to arrive in one big convoy to ensure we all end up together in a lump and not scattered across all corners of Lord Tollemache's estate. Last year we used the Tesco at Stowmarket but the route from there has several junctions and we'd be sure to get chopped up en route.
Does anyone know a place as close to the Helmingham Hall as possible - a pub possibly - where we can assemble en masse and then proceed to the Hall?
Ta!

How about the Sorrel Horse Inn at Barham! just off the A14 Approx 6 miles from Helmingham Hall.

Thanks chaps - all is now fixed. The closest pub is the White Hart at Otley, and this also means we'd approach the Hall from the south which has less traffic = shorter queues.
Better still, I had this great reply from the Lynda the landlady:
'I have no problem with you all meeting in the car park save for the fact that you will have to double up as it ain't that big for twenty cars, but then you will only be blocking each other in so no problem really! We are only about a mile away from the Helmingham Hall entrance, and as you suspect, it is along the road least travelled.
My only problem will be deterring sightseers depending on the cars that turn up, and maybe forfeiting you a "Spank it" T shirt as my man and I are due to head out to the States that day to do a Harley run to Sturgis. As he lives in Monaco and is indeed a Pistonhead of the Highest Order, he would be well chuffed and I would have huge Brownie Points that could translate to shopping in the U.S.
Let me know if you want to do a coffee/croissant or tea/bacon butty breakfast...'
I think we can safely say 'sorted'

Nice one John. Bacon butty's sound good.

I spoke to Helmingham on Monday and they're sending out more tickets this week.

So much for my good suggestion, also it has a large carpark.
I know the Sorrell Horse; the TVRCC used to meet there. However I ruled it out as there are too many junctions between it and the Hall. The White Hart is one mile away and has no junctions where the convoy could get broken up. We're also coming in from the south which will minimise queueing.Next week, a 1,000 bomber raid on Essen.
