I just found my next bike for Summer 2008!! The Buell 1125R!
Discussion
My mate told me about the new Buell 1125R this morning, and I was shocked when I saw it! It looks totally amazing and I can't wait to try one out!!!!
Stunning bike!!!!!

145bhp, a new non-Harley V-Twin engine. Same chassis design as the XB series and same short wheelbase.
Looks like a winner to me and it sounds the part too.

Let's see.. it's got a Rotax lump in it so it should be bullet proof, it weighs in at 200kg so its light as the mainstream, it's got the same very short wheel base which makes it handle as good if not better than its rivals, and its got typical 'in yer face' looks. Presume it has the oil in the frame technology and all the other mod cons too.
I like it.
I have ridden a mates XB back from Hayling Island and although it did take some getting used to it left me with a very positive impression. I think the only thing that was putting me off buying one was the fact it had a hardly dangerous motor in it. I am at the 'lets buy a new bike' state and am currently torn between a used busa or a buell. As the other poster stated its not for everyone, but we could say the same about those that choose to ride BMW's

I find the looks from certain angles a bit challenging, but I bet it will be good to ride. I think it could end up an unappreciated performance bargain in a few years time, so I'm keeping it on future bikes list.

I don't know about unappreciated. The price is affordable and competes strongly with the Jap and Italian bikes.Steve
Since it also has that fantastic Rotax engine and legendary Buell XB handling, I think this one will be a winner. Granted for some people it'll take a little getting used to in terms of looks but I really think Buell have gone the full mile on this one.
Roll on 2008!

Is it the end of the Harley engined buells then? For me the engine in the XB was a big part of its appeal totally diffrnet to everything else. The Sales man i was talking too said the Harley engine could pass the 2008 emission laws without a Cat.
I doubt it's the end of the Harley engine. However, I think Buell are trying to get into the SuperSports market and the Harley engine simply isn't powerful enough. You can get about 120bhp tops without popping it (with stacks of torque though), but the rev range and power delivery isn't quite what you need for a SuperSports. The new Rotax does sound very harley-like though.....
