Having had the front end of my car removed overnight I started this topic http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=414177

BiB say there was a spate in my area, the same 3 months earlier.

Having since been watching ebay and found a user offering a number of second hand front ends for E46 and earlier BMWs, no other car parts.

Should I just sit back, pay my excess & increased premiums (and yours go up to) or report this to BiB as someone POSSIBLY dealing in stolen items?

Report it.
Most forces have a specialist vehicle crime squad who would be interested.
They may know already winkof course

had thought of this, especially as the ad encourages email before hitting "Buy Now". Is this a chance to get the stock in?

But it's either leave it or BiB for me.

Would like to hear BiB's opinion of whether or not it is worth reporting.

Normal local Police phone number?
Just give crime number and info?
Ask for a certain department?

Thanks

Give the local station a call or the station that the officers that came out are from if different, give them the crime number and ask to speak to the investigating officer as you have some information for them regarding the incident.

If they're not on duty ask them to leave a message and also ask when they're next on duty and available to speak to.

oops, crime number over the phone job then?.

Give the station a buzz, no harm in letting them know what you've found

Yes, over phone to report when discovered.

Call back with crime number and saying that no point coming out for prints.

Last time they told me to hold on to the brick that went through the window for possible prints. No more heard though.

I'll report in the morning anyway but still not convinced anything will be done.

I thought you get charged now for calling the police out to a car related crime?
