Was there from last Friday to Sunday and what a fantastic time we had. Can't recommend it highly enough. The hot weather also helped with the experience.thumbup
The car held up fantastically well and left everything in its wake. They talk about how Porches handle like they're on rails but not one could keep up and I passed more than I can remember. After a few laps we managed to get times down to below 8 minutes and that was with traffic that kept slowing me down. The car handled like a dream and really suited the ring, except the Carasel which felt like it was wearing the bottom of the car away. All the chat about Tuscans handling like a pig were blown out of the water, and as for realiability, 1800 miles and not one niggle, and that was with some hard driving.driving
As for impact, the car was parked in the ring car park and was surrounded by admirers every time I left it. clap
Overall a great time had, along with a convert, as the guy I went with will be selling his porsche and investing in something a little more intereting, and quicker wink
Managed to get a free sound test aswell, because the first time I went out I went for it on the straight and was told you could hear me above the cars at the start line. Was asked to rev it around 3500rpm but only took it to 2300 as its quieter then. Still came out at 102.4db. But the nice chap pretended it never happened. Must like to see the exotica not getting it there own way for once.biglaugh

Sub-8 is the fastest lap I've ever heard of in a TVR.

PJ isn't that fast (yet) and neither am I (also yet)

to put that into perspective 08:30 in a Tiv is Bloody fast...and the fastest lap I've done there is 07:55 in a GT2RS with a guy thats been going for 10 years and does it 3 times a year for several days!

yikes well done. They LOVE TVRS over there!

any footage? pics?

we're going again in Oct and are hoping to get into 08:15s.
Well Done again!

I was there all weekend and the only car / person I saw on track who looked like he might have been putting in sub 8 minute laps was Walter R in his white 997 Turbo.....

I took a few pics while I was there. This you?

I was there too......I'd have been suprised if anyone could have gone very fast, far to much traffic and closures.

BTW you sound suprised your car can do 1800 miles and driven hard without problems.

Are you sure you didn't mean to press the "9" key instead of the "8"?

Those are likely to be full lap times, not BTG, but set by professional drivers under ideal conditions on a closed track.

Still, sub 8 BTG is reasonably quick, and well beyond most mortals without a decent car, a bit of talent and a few laps under their belt.

I guess our TVR friend is one of those rare super-human types that show up every century or two. And his TVR is likewise rather special.

Sorry chap, I overtook you, twice.

Great car, lovely noise, drop the bull and enjoy the place like the rest of us.

Either you were measuring from odd points or you mistyped, no sub 8 mins there this weekend, traffic was way too heavy apart from Sunday last thing and I didnt see you then.

Great car, but BS will se you shot down in flames, step away from the bovine!!

I was there last year on a BMW organized course. as it was a private course, we were lucky to have the full circuit too ourselves,(didn't have to pull in each lap) One of the instructors reckoned I was getting around in 8min 20 seconds, and that was after three solid days. O yea, I was on an 05 R1.
