Hi Everyone. Diane and I have decided to sell our much loved and much cherished Midas gold T350c.
The reason is that for at least the last twenty years we have had an ambition to buy our own narrow boat, and cruise the complete northern canal system for a minimum of a year, and more if we like it!
Those of you that know us will already know of our dream,(and we are not getting any younger). And our previous dream was to own one of Blackpools finest sports cars. but we have now had a couple. We started with a Giallo fly yellow Chimaera. and never in our wildest dreams did we ever think we would be able to afford a brand new one. sorry if this sounds big headed?? but our car must be one of the most famous T350c's made, with pictures of her appearing in Sprint rather too regular for some. sorry Paulhehe(none sent to Sprint by me). When the car was only a few months old we were invited to be part of the drivers parade at the LeMans 24 hr race. That was one of many memorable things we have done with the car, i shall never forget it!! apart from events that we have participated in, we have made lots of new friends all over the country, which we intend to still keep in close contact with.
But all good things have to come to an end, and with much sadness we have made the decision to sell.
So if anyone is interested? I will be putting her in the classified section on PH very soon.
The car does have a private reg plate that we will retain.
Dave

Wow...never thought I'd see the day when you would be selling your P & J, but really pleased that your dream is that bit nearer cos I know how much you'd both like to do it.

Someone is going to get a very famous and really show stopping T350.thumbup

Hope she goes to a good home mate.

eek NO! eek

Dave, I can't believe it! It doesn't seem that long ago that you got the Chimaera, anyway at least its going for a good reason, although you have to go rather slow along those canals biggrin

Sad news. Sounds like quite a lifestyle change your you then.

It was good to meet you Sunday in Uxbridge. Mine was the black Tamora. Don't forget to mention your bespoke union flags by the back windows on your car. I hope it finds a good home.

Cheers
Chris

Oh blimey guys, i'm filling up now!! We have and always will love the car,and i'm sure the next person to own her will be delighted i have no doubt, I know that yellow isn't everyone's colour, but we have had the car on display at many car shows, and we have had comments like 'Yellow is not a colour i would choose for a car, but on this car it's simply stunning'!! Wherever we have drove, people in cars and on foot just stare and take pictures with their phones, I will never stop getting a massive kick out of that happening.
So who ever buys her better get used to grinning and being glared at all the timehehe

Real shame to lose a fellow halcyon midas gold Tiv owner (although of course another will come along....wink)- we've never had the chance to meet, but I've read many of your posts and can understand how you feel. I would be devastated if I had to sell mine.

Best wishes for the future.

Don't think you'll find the handling up to much though!

P.S. I've done quite a bit of canaling in the northern area. Very nice for the most part, (some of the built up areas are not so nice though).

Hi Tony, Yes the handling just don't compare,i've gone aground many times, but not that bad.
Yes we are aware that some of the bits that go through the towns are no stopping area's as we hired narrow boats every year for twenty years whilst our two sons were growing up,and i think we could write a book on the things that have happened to us. Over those years We have been shot at by air guns, fired at with catapults, and been Egg'd on a few occations.
But the pretty and quiet bits far outway the bad bits.
This new venture is going to take about a year to plan,so its lots of boot sales from now on,as we need to de-clutter a bit.
Has any other TVR owner been narrow boating before??

The way the weather is at the moment Dave could well be back at the foresters in the narrow boat.

Good Luck Diane and Dave in whatever you do.. Hope it all works out well.

Lets just hope you navigate better than you drive. wink

First of all, I got to tell you I am gutted, I know we really know each other through our yellow TVR's but your warmth and friendliness is what confirmed I had bought the right car the first time I met you and Di. Your car inspired my own choice of colour, and reading your posts on pistonheads, when I was a lurker prior to purchase just confirmed my choice!

But I understand the circumstances! If you need that fix of yellowness I will happily oblige, and dont forget, with a laptop and a friendly 3g card, pistonheads is definately accessable from a boat!

As for narrowboating, I love it, the previous managment loved it, but current management on her one and only trip tool a dislike to it, mainly for 3 reasons, it rained like mad, the boat we had looked great, but had a noisy rattling isuzu diesel, not a nice sounding diesel, and finally the endless dead things floating in the canal.

In terms of experience, I have done the 4 counties ring twice, and the chesire ring and 4 countiers combined, if you ever need a deckhand, I am up for coming along, because I would do the same given the opportunity! For me nothing could be a more contrasting lifestyle than my normal life of planes, computers, phones and non stop mayhem, and I love the tranquility and fresh air.

Either way good luck and keep in touch!

cheers

Simon

Morning Simon, Diane and I just can't believe the support from you all that we are getting from our new venture, its fantastic!!I think over the last twenty years we must have done all the northern canal. Now with lots more of the disused canals being opened up, there will be loads more to see on the system. The last time we cruised it must be about 5 years ago when we had only just purchased our first TVR, that being a yellow Chim, I remember missing it so much, i couldn't wait for the week on the boat to end, sad eh?
Like you we have made some fantastic friends, and the warmth and support from you all is amazing, not sure if the same thing is evident on the canals.
We have already joined a canal forum on the web.
So if we need a hand, we will give you a call thenhehe

Hi Paul,
Break down??? I can honestly state that in over 4 years of owning this T350c it has never broken down!! (back me up yellow peril) It had several niggles during its first year, but "Break down" Never!!
Blew a tyre out once on the way to wales and ended up on a low loader. Over the last twenty or so narrow boat holidays, they break down loads of times...hehe so ya never know eh??
