I have seriously been considering gettting some driving gloves... yikes

Those with a tuscan (and maybe sag too and others) will know the gear knob can get mighty hot, if you are in the high revs for longs periods too hot to touch and it makes a gear change quite painful!!

Also I tend to get some serious white knuckles from holding onto the steering wheel! smile and hence get sweaty palms which isnt nice. Was thinking of some nice lined gloves (im guessing decent ones have a "wicking" effect like thermals to get the moisture away from you?)

How tragic is this?

Try golf gloves, a matching left and right hander. They do the job.

Try a Chim, cooling the gear knob is about all those middle air vents are good for... but they do that one job superbly!

Has no one else got proper official TVR driving gloves? I got mine at The Factory at Back Home last year, they cost a packet tho!
The website NS created to sell the TVR merchandise he was selling then was always under construction, now its defunct!

I actually found that page last night, I think full-on racing gloves are a bit over the top though, if they had something a bit like them but without the big "gauntlet" bit past the wrist I'd probably get some. Im going to have a browse through the carting and pit-crew gloves to see if there is anything in there.

Also might have to buy a simpson helmet next month too! smile

Like you, Paul, I favour the black leather, but having seen you wearing yours I thought "Hmm, they are a bit Roger Moore, aren't they!"

Setright used to swear by driving gloves.... allowed a lighter touch on the steering wheel and hence greater feedback. And he was right. Buy a decent set (I believe that Dunhill's have a good reputation, and the Goodwood shop sells a very well made glove). But at the end of the day, it's a personal thing; if it feels good and adds to the overall driving experience then do it. If you feel self-concious then it's not for you.

Hi

I had a pair of gloves that were designed for the horsey folk.

They had a weird stippled effect on the palms and fingers. They were fantastic as my hands used to get sore gripping the wheel. With these babies spectacular grip with minimal pressure and yet slacken off the pressure a wee bit and the wheel would pass through your hands no problem.

Unfortunately, they have gone walk-about after not being used for 9months due to an enforced period of not driving (if you know what I mean :-) )

When they turn up, I will post the make. They were not expensive and I got them from a jodpurs, whips, leather straps, etc type shop. Equestrian I think is the term I was after ;-)
