Hydraulic hose failure on e-gear

I've just had my second hose go on my 06 Gallardo's e-gear. Both times I experienced failure of the selector and plumes of smoke as the oil landed on the hot bits.

The dealer has fitted new hoses ex-factory and all is well again. However, it has shaken my faith in the reliability of the car - which has done 23,000km.

Has anyone else had this happen to their G?

A hose coming off doesn't sound too serious - if thats the worst thing thats happened in 23km's then I would call that lucky !

I believe that these hoses carry hydraulic fluid which when leaked onto hot parts can ignite this is the most common cause of fires in cars fitted with e-gear & F1 type gearboxs

Another reason to buy a gallardo with the proper gearbox fitted (shiny lever in the centre console)

Same thing happened to me on New Years Eve. The car was 600 miles from home

Didnt someone post a pic/video of a Giallo Midas Gallardo Spider on fire on an American highway after this fault had occured the other day ?

I have read about this happening a few times now.

Different issue, that Gallardo Spyder burnt when the fuel line broke
