TurboS boy has come up with an idea.

In addition to the official vmax title for overall vmax..

We will also have...

VMAX SUV Title
VMAX 4 UP !

and if anyone is interested, my idea...

VMAX Classic! (cars from 60's or older to 1990)

A cunning bag of Tudor, Craig San.

However, beware the Top/5th Gear 'clownification' factor which depurifies the spirit of the whole shooting match.

Craig,

I Like the idea of sub-categories, as there are in other 'similar' events. It doesn't devalue the event especially if you screen the participants (obviously), it just creates other areas of interest and focus for a wider scope of competition.

I wouldn't go too far though..sleep

all the best

I did try to convince the F-I-L to take the Cayenne Turbo, but he didn't fancy it much... frown

Hmmmm, So I'm guessing so far, that:

Leon has the outright top speed.
Markbe, fastest topless.
Maff, fastest four up.

I'm with deristrictor.

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid!

The clue is in the title 'VMax' - that's it! (IMHOOC)

Why do I have it in my head that my F-I-L has 550bhp? I know he's had the upgrade done by Porsche (Remaps, Boost increase on the already bigger turbos) and its way more powerful that it should be...

What he said.

Those who've attended more than once, very quickly realise that the heady heights of 200+ are reserved for very very expensive machinery, so the rest of us accept we'll never reach such speeds & just like the banter, swaping of stories & vainly try to squeeze that extra 1MPH in the vain hope of getting closer to our cars VMAX.

Having different groupings i think would de-value VMAX. The event is more about fun than competition (IMHO).

I think th eidea is more informal than that. Just a bit of fun in having a note of who had the fastest time by a 4wd and with 4 people in the car. I dont think cars will be put into groups.

I think this could be doable whilst keeping it simple, just with adding a couple of lines onto the homepage where we currently have..

Current Records:

Top Speed: Leon at 207mph
Roof Down: Mark at 190mph
I can just add in "Four Up:" and "SUV:" to that list as well if needs be, but still keep the events in the same vein as they already are.

So should someone take 3 passengers on the day and get a corking speed then that's fine, ditto for someone turning up in an uber-SUV.

I'm still trying to fathom how that awful dodger, Thomas, got his SL500 to over 160: that's an early 90s, post-Ewing variant {in admittedly faultless nick} but quite heavy and 'only' about 320 bhp.

Incredible.
