Are you talking about Dean Evans' first-lap drive in the Australian Lotus Trophy race at Bathurst a few years ago? If so, yes, it was a very fine lap.

I reckon the other drivers must have had a bit of carpet or something jammed under their throttle pedals!

no I dont think so , in particular there is one black one that just monsters up on the inside for one corner early on and just wastes our hero, also you can hear him topping out on the way up to that same corner.

Dean Evans is a quick driver (he is also the deputy editor of the Australian Motor Magazine), but he tends to drive too fast for himself, therefore lacks consistency to win championships.

I entered a competition in 2003/4 to win a drive in the 04/05 Elise trophy, lost out to a guy who went on to win the championship and was probably in that race, then won the Exige title the next year and doesn't seem to be driving now. He was really quick everywhere they raced - anyone know what happened to him? (Damien Ffrench I think was his name)
