My 420 SEAC has the timing set correctly and all seems good with the engine but even with Super plus ULG on full load and above 4k rpm it pinks like a B.....
Any ideas.

yeah funny you should say that, my 350 has been sounding like a bag of nails over the last few months and i thought the engine was knackered, turns out it was pinking because i was using sainsburys unleaded instead of the esso unleaded, im now running opn optimax (shell) when i can get it, seems to make a massive difference with no pinking even at full revs on a hot day.

Fuel quality or possibly low fuel pressure , either way be careful, i recommend that if with the next tank it still pinks check fuel pressure , although its more likely to be fuel quality, I'm not surprised these days, more and more we find injectors need cleaning, which wont help your situation.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it was variants in petrol causing problems. Not really noticed it much myself but I'm regularly out on m'bikes with a mate, his always seems to misbehave when he fills up at Tesco, it really does struggle to run well, cuts out, sounds+smells rough, etc....other brands seem to run fine though. Still faster than me though, boo
