If money no object and car available, I just wanted to test why people would opt for a 997 GT2 over a 997 GT3 RS ? I am still struggling for real world track and road conditions.

Thanks in advance.

GT3RS - simply because I have a 996 GT2 and want to try some normally aspirated pork. Plus I think the RS looks a lot nicer than GT2 in 997 guise, whereas I thought the opposite with 996.

997 GT3 RS for track use or 997 GT2 for road use. If money is no object, I would have both biggrin

Mr racing driver sir, what would you think will be the noticable differences on track between the pair?

Is there any doubt that the 997 GT2 will be faster around a track? Especially once a bit more boost is dialed in.

Ok I am just guessing here from previous expierance, but...

The RS is more setup to be a track day car, where the GT2 is more of both, it will have more luxuaries and electronics and be softer then the RS I guess, so won't feel as good round the track.

Obviously the GT2 could easily be altered into an amazing track day beast, by sending it to Tech 9 or Parr, but as standard I don't think it would be as fast round a lap as the RS, just like the 997 Turbo (haven driven a standard and a setup one, there is no comparison as the standard one is just an understeering beast :P).

But my choice of car was determined on the basis of each car being standard, but if I could change it, then 100% the GT2.

So if you could only have the one car and you did, say a dozen track days a year, some here some in Europe what car would you choose in std set up? Seeing as that in this scenario the usage would be about 5% track and 95% road?

997GT3Rs because of the active suspension, I think it has the edge.

GT2 has PASM with Normal and Sport settings.

Would be interesting driving them both on the race track. 997GT3 is quite heavy so the GT2 - being heavier - will be a big lump to rag around. It's a lot easier to hide relative bulk on the road than it is on the race track.

Definatly the GT2 then. Travelling from and too the track and as a normal every day car it will be a lot better. You could also make some setup changes that would make it nearly equal to the RS and still would be great on the road.

Yes Steve, it will be heavier, but the RS does not feel too heavy round a track, try drivign the 997 RSR, now that is heavy laugh

I heared that the ideal RSR would be a 997 shell with 996 running gear. How heavy is the 997RSR?

About 1300kg without fuel or driver!! They upped the weight to get bigger restrictors and GT1 tyres...

That is heavy! I have to come in at 1315kg after the race in my 996 cup car and I thought that I was hard done by! You must have tyre wear issues?

Sorry correction, it's 1225kg without fuel or driver, there is 100kg of ballast on there so that Porsche could have the bigger restrictors and GT1 tyres. No in fact with the bigger tyres, tyre wear is not too bad, it's not as good as the 430, but it's not too bad.
