I am considering having the PSE retro fitted to my 2005 C2S by a local Nottingham Porsche independant (ABM or HAC) using official Porsche parts based upon the fact that they can do it with the on/off switch in the cabin whilst bypassing the cut off which gives you the best of both worlds.

This post on rennteam seems to indicate this is possible:

Being non technical I would appreciate views from the informed parties on the forum about risk, warranty, potential problems and the recommendation on how to do it in the above post.

Thanks in advance

You can take out the bypass in any case, independent of who installed it. Do a search on this forum as this topic has been covered a few times before

I have read you can by pass the cut off via the brown plug, my query is does this also disable the on/off switch in the cabin or can it be installed so that the on/off switch works but the cut off is disabled.

Thanks

Removal of the 'brown' plug in the engine bay will leave the PSE permanently loud ie. not-switchable.

I've read (so don't know how true it is) that the 997 has the PSE cutout set in the DME, in the 996 it was relay and speedo based, so just needing the clipping of the grey/pink wire or the infamous (and crude) relay mod.
